Thirdgen Fest '06 information

Thirdgen Fest is our annual party held every Memorial Day weekend. This year will be our fifth year and it continues to grow and improve every year. Thirdgen Fest '05 was great but we think '06 be even better. Here's what we have planned for this year.

First of all, most people felt '05 was easily the best Thirdgen Fest yet so we are only planning some minor additions for this year. We had about 60 cars attend last year and we're hoping to see at least 75 this year!!! If you attended the '05 event you pretty much know what to expect for this year. To start with, Thirdgen Fest '06 will be held May 26th and May 27th in Crete, IL which is approximately 40 minutes south of Chicago (rain dates are May 28th and 29th). Registration will start on April 1st with the early registration fee being $35 per car. (Remember the price is PER CAR, it doesn't matter if you have one person coming or four, the price is the same!!! Also, that fee applies to ANY car whether it is a thirdgen or not so if you aren't bringing your thirdgen but still want to attend you'll still have to pay the registration fee.) The $35 early registration fee is available April 1st - May 15th. After that the registration fees jumps to $45 per car. So, you can save yourself $10 if you register on or before May 15th. (There is another post set up will all the registration information.) Your registration fees gets you admission into both days as well as one ticket for the raffle.

May 26th is the Friday night pre-party. It will start at 7:00 pm. The Friday night party was a new addition in '05 and we definitely plan to make it a permanent addition. The Friday night party is just your basic summer weekend party. We will have a bonfire, keg, pop, chips, etc. It really isn't about the cars, it just gives people a chance to hang out, talk cars, and have fun with other people who love thirdgens.

Saturday, May 27th is the main Thirdgen Fest '06 event. It will start at noon and end with a car cruise to one of the popular local cruise night locations at around 7:00 pm. During the day we will have all you can eat food and drinks (no alcohol will provided on Saturday due to the car cruise at the end of the day.) We will have hamburgers, hot dogs, chips, and pop as always but plan to expand the menu this year as well. Some possibilites include chili, lasagna, nachos, etc. We will also be keeping the 80's alive with all '82-'92 music. In addition to that, we plan to have activities like bean bags, and an inflatable jumpy tent.

The car show was also a new addition for '05 and will continue as a permanent addition. All cars registered will receive a registration packet and will be assigned a car number. Each car will get a car information sheet to fill out and display with your car. We will be giving away trophies in each of nine categories:

Best Camaro: Stock
Best Camaro: Modified
Best Firebird: Stock
Best Firebird: Modified
Best Paint
Best Engine
Best Interior
Best Restoration
Best of Show

First, second, and third place trophies will be awarded in the Stock and Modified classes. The other five classes are first place only.

The winners will be determined by participant voting. Each person bringing a car will receive a voting ballot to pick a car in each category (you can not vote for your own car.) The trophies will be awarded to the cars receiving the most votes in each category.

As always, we will be having a raffle. Every registration packet includes one ticket and additional tickets are available for an additional $35 each. (The ticket price stays the same through the day of the party.) This year will be raffling off a complete Spohn suspension kit.

We will end the event with a car cruise. This was a huge hit with everybody last year and I'm sure it will continue to be. Directions for the cruise will be provided at the party.

The event is really easy to find and close to many major highways. There are also many places to stay nearby. The registration packets will complete with maps/directions as well as motel/campground information for people coming from out of town.

More information will be posted as it becomes available or you can check our website www.thirdgenranch.com.

WE HOPE TO SEE YOU THERE!!!
