We are going to have to reschedule for the rain date of SATURDAY, OCTOBER 18TH. All other details will remain the same other than the date.

I wanted to give folks as much notice as possible, hope to see ya on the rain date!






Okay folks, here's the full scoup on the picnic this year!

Thirdgen Nationals/Power at the Point picnic 2008

--SATURDAY, OCTOBER 18TH--

Everyone is welcome to attend; all domestic makes/models welcome to park in the show area!

Start time 11pm; Lunch should be ready around 1pm; wrap up around 5pm.

Cost will be between $10-15 per person with kids free. (I still need to finish hashing out a food budget, I will post up an exact amount by early next week once I round up final costs and get a rough headcount)

Food will be typical cookout fare; hamburgers/hotdogs/ various chips/sodas/waters/salads/beans/fixin's/etc/etc


WHO'S IN!?!







--just a few quick reminders:

- traffic laws are obviously in force, 25mph max in the park

- absolutly NO burnouts, aggressive driving, etc.

- park admission is $3, there may be someone collecting at the gate, or there may not. If not, the honor system is in effect. Grab an envelope at the box as you come in, toss $3 in it, and put it in the big mailbox looking thing. Before you drop it in the box, tear off your parking pass and put it on your rear view mirror. Everyone -must- have paid up, and have a pass.

- no beer, etc.

- please be curtious to other park patrons, park officials, etc.

- trash is on a pack in, pack out plan. I will be collecting trash at the end, just put it in a small grocery bag or something like that

My cliff notes on directions to the park:

From Northern MD/ points from North:
695 South Exit 42 - North Point Blvd./Sparrows Point. Bear right onto 151 South -- North Point Blvd. First left (Edgemere/Ft. Howard) onto North Point Rd. (into edgemere) you will pass a wawa on the left, then sparrows point HS on the left, stay LEFT at the fork in the road, strait for about a 1/2 mile, park entrance is on left. (bay shore road)

From Southern MD/VA/DC area
(I-95N to I 695 East, key bridge)
I95 North to 695E to Exit 43 -- Sparrows Point. Left (at ramp) onto Rte 158 -Bethlehem Blvd towards Edgemere/Fort Howard. Proceed to traffic light at North Point Blvd. Straight through the light onto North Point Rd. (into edgemere) you will pass a wawa on the left, then sparrows point HS on the left, stay LEFT at the fork in the road, strait for about a 1/2 mile, park entrance is on left. (bay shore road)


Basically after you get off of I-695 (and onto north point road if you are coming from the North, it's the first left) you stay strait on the main road until you hit the park. It will be on the left. (If you end up at Fort Howard Park, that's the end of the road, you have gone too far! It's back about 2 miles.)


Also, please note that mapquest says North Point Road/RT 20. there is no signs for RT20, just North Point Road, which are the same. Just worth mentioning.

NOTE: The toll for the Key Bridge is $2 each way.

I'd like to, its 3.5 hrs from my house. Is anyone else going from PA?

 

I'll have to see what things look like when it gets closer. My car moved under its own power since I got it in Decemeber 07 for the first time on Saturday. (hence the new pic below.) I still have some bugs to work out. Especially with the Clutch issue I have. (Non ability to slip.) If I can't get that stuff straightend out I guess I'll be down in my honda to stare and druel.

I think I fixed my clutch hopefully if all gose well this will be the first major trip for my car even though sparrows point is only about a 40 mile drive from my house.

 

I know Kat/Coop/Iroc4bd3/phant0m/couple other folks are coming down from PA, not sure where that is in relation to you. I never have actually seen your car in person, hopefully you can make it out!

 

Its already not looking good, It looks like I'll have my daughter that weekend, we'll see. Where are the PA ppl coming from?

Will be there, probably will be one of the first there. Gotta leave early to make it back in time for the skins game, so I plan to make the most of it. Just look for the red GTA with the busted GFX... that's me

Skins is a 4:15 game...if it was a home game i would be going but its not i really don't want to miss it either way but we will see.

 

It's 45 minutes from Bowie to Springfield, and 30 minutes from Baltimore to Bowie. You get there at 11 and leave the city by 2 and you have more than enough time to make it back. That and I wanna see your car.

 

Ya, sunday is bad for me, Sat. would have been better.... I was thinking it was like past events where there was camping available. 7 hrs on road is too much for a couple hours of picnic...sry

Not this year. I have done them for the past couple of years, and altough ALOT of folks say that they want one, I still end up with a ton of them leftover that I have allready paid for. I didn't have the extra dough to put out there this year, covering the food/etc up front is a challenge as it is.

Looking like the GTA's not going to get done so Adrienne & I will be there in the IROC.I believe her son was going to go in his RS but think he's working sun.

 

working on getting the camaro passes emissions, if i can do that then im definatly coming

 

Weather doesn't look good for up here for the weekend.I have all the weather strips removed in preparation for a winter paint job so no driving in the rain.

 

I will take another look at the weather later in the week, hopefully it's dry for Sunday!

 

Where and when do we pay the 15 bucks?

My Camaro is in GA but I work at Walter Reed. I'll support the cause.
