I had a megashifter and finally yanked it out 2 weeks ago. I didn't like the way the throws were especially going to park or having to pull it down into D from neutral before being able to go to R or P. It's not bad for the street but poor for drag racing.
I now use a B&M Pro Ratchet. It's a very popular shifter with drag racers. I suppose the only annoying thing about it is that you have to ratchet twice from P to R or R to P because of how GM linkage works.
The shift lever is always in the same position. It either ratchets forward or reverse and always comes back to the same position even in Park.
The Hurst quarter stick isn't a ratchet shifter. It uses gates. Drag racers usually prefer a ratchet shifter.

Same here. I've used the pro ratchet for 4 years now. The only bad thing is the double shift into and out of park. Haven't missed a shift in 4 years

I want a shifter that will go in our consoles. Sine this is mostly a street car I want to keep the console in there because GM didnt give us glove boxes. I need somewhere to keep stuff. One of my friends has a quarter stick in his track only 70 challenger. He had ratchet shifter and hated it (i think it was a mega shifter) he said I should get a quarter stick. Hurst makes the plate for our consoles for them too.
Bringin this back from the past.....
To all you guys with the Pro Ratchet. I was wondering if you can ratchet into neutral from gear without activating the lockout. I figure that could spell trouble going into neutral from 1st (reverse valve body) instead of second if you don't have a rev limiter. Thanks

Forward pattern is PRN321
Reverse pattern is PRN123
First of all if you're in first gear and at your shift point you better know if you need to pull or push the shifter to second. There is no lockout doing from D to N. The only lockout on any shifter is going into R from N.
The reverse pattern is nice for racing. The only way you can get into N and then R is to slow down and downshift.
