help me go the distance!

i want to run my car at a track sometime very soon before the summer is over. right now its only got a few things, but i want to do some more and try to get there. i want to run at least a mid-low 14 if thats possible. Before i go i will remove/gut my cat, i will remove my spare, remove AC and all smog junk, make a CAI, and get new plugs. think i can acheive my goal? how much do drag slicks take off the time, i should be able to get some 10 inch wide ones on, and i am ready to purchase them, r they worth it? what are some other cheap/free things i can do to help out my car? i already have the thinkgs in my sig to, headers, flows, borla, etc.

with some 10" slicks would i be able to floor it off the line and not spin?

I paid $20 for brand-new goodyear Indy500 slicks! I have them on my 305 and I am hooking no problem. The ones I have you have to burn the living crap outta them to hook though! 14s??? I am not sure. I wouldn't gut the cat though (it may slow you down). Remove all the weight you can! Let me know how you do.
