front bumper help

Im hoping someone can help us out. A club member is building a 87 Camaro for the strip only and heard that there is a bar behind the front bumper that can be substituted for aluminum for weight savings. His info calls it a Rebar. Does this exist?

If it's strip only, why do you want to substitute it. Just remove the crash bumper all together. Take out the rear one also.
