Is it possible for a track to be this bad ?

I was at an 1/8th mile track brand new by the way only had 2 race nights so far. Anyway i have a zz4, holley SR, headers, nitto DR, and 3.73's. I only managed a 9.150 at 80 mph with a crappy 2.3 60ft. 3 ls1 were there too and they were running 9.0-9.4. I even raced a guy with a 327 4.11's 3000 stall and a 150 shot in a 72 camaro with huge tires and he only ran 9.3. Well my question is, is it possible for track conditions to cause this bad of a run for my combo, i hope so cause i was really pissed i was expecting like a 8.5 at 87mph. It was just impossible to stop spinning, and i even had some of the quickest 60's at 2.3!?

yes I would imagine with it being a new track that there is no rubber laid down on the track or anything and I know how you feel about not being able to hook.

Early season racing is always bad. The ground and track are still cold. If there's no traction compound, VHT, put down on the starting line or whole track then it's going to take a while before the track temperature gets up high enough for better traction conditions.

Last fall when I blew my engine it was the last track day of the season. We were on track around 10 am and I didn't start hooking up until 2 pm. The track was really cold and didn't start getting any heat until the sun came out in the afternoon.

If the wide racing slick tired cars can't hook up then it's usually poor track conditions. No amount of burnouts can help. You just have to accept the poor conditions and hope for a better day.

I would say definitely. There was someone who posted not too long ago that he pulled a 1.96 60ft. on crappy street tires at his track!! I have never heard of that. But, he also said they prep the track where he runs. Shoot I wish, our track never gets prepped, but, at least it's a 1/4mi instead of the 1/8...hope your traction gets better.
