new best time with the vortec headed setup

Ran down atco last night.

Best time was an 11.960 @ 113.51

time slip like this

1.666---------------------60
4.924---------------------330
7.613 @ 90.68----------1/8
9.902----------------------990
11.960 @ 113.51-----1/4

finally getting my too tall slicks to hook well.

the motor's a vortec headed 355. 10.75 compression bowl work and a valve job on the heads. comp Xe 274 cam. 780 vac sec holley, 700r4 trans. ACT 3300 stall converter, and 3.73 gears with 28x10.5x15 mt etdrags./

Finally a run worth having the 8 point bar in there for.

Nice run for sure. That is a great 60ft time. What is your rpm at the top of the track? I am running 3.73's as well and have been thinking of going to a 28" tire.

awesome times man, you have just seeled the deal for me.. was thinking about the vortec's and now that i see the potential i am definetly going to get a set. I'm not gonna be anywhere near as fast as you for a while, but it's nice to see the vortecs can produce some good numbers with the right combo.

Nice ET

How much does your car weigh? Those MPH's seem very low for those ET's.

now i had a very long post written with just about everythign the car had...

But the board ate it..

and out of spite i'm not going to write that damn much again.

I'm crossing the line at about 5700 rpm. @ 113+

Intake is a performer rpm vortec intake with a 1" open spacer.
rockers are 1.5 crane race golds

pistons rods crank.

trw forged flattops, polished x rods, and an eagle 4130 crank. ballanced, block was align bored, and decked the pistons actually pop out of the bores .002

race weight i'm not sure of.. haven't wieghed it yet.. i'd say around 3400 if not a bit heavier with all the steel welded in it. aka the boxed lcas, panhard rod.. let alone the 8 point bar, and the sfcs, and the spohn torque arm

rear suspesnion has that stuff and adjustable rear shocks... and lakewood 90/10's... with no sway bar in the front... S10 manual box

NOT a full wieght car by any means.

the heads have bowl work, and a valve job on them. as well as a clean up deck

damn dude you got that MF'er hookin..by your trap speed id day your makin "only" 375-400 ponies, but your putting it all down like now...good **** man

with the pistons poping out of the bores, you dont have any quench area..its kinda late now, but no doubt costing you efficiency and power

He is making way more that 400 horsepower (unless you are talking about at the wheels) to get a 3400 pound car to run 113 mph trap speeds. My vortec crate engine with 330 horsepower trapped 104-106.

Is that 330 HP at the flywheel or wheels?

Your car must be very light to trap @ 106mph with 330 HP.

My friend has an 02 WS6 which is 320 hp and he trapped at 105 bone stock. But then again, I think the LS1's are underrated from the factory.

Yes the ls-1s are underrated. My cousin's bone stock 98 A4 Ram Air put 285rwhp to the wheels. That's about 360fwhp. There are 01 and 02 stick cars that are putting 315-320rwhp. That's about 390fwhp. The stick cars on average put about 20 more hp to the wheels.

Pony Killer is probably putting out about 330rwhp and gobs of tq.

converter slip is what's wrong.. ther'es probalby a good 12-15% silp in the converter.

if i'd get off my lazy ***.. i'd hook the lockup to the converter

it's still running pretty good

I'll have to dig the pictures up... but it's a "destinctive" looking car

it's a red 86 Z28

the left frond fender is black, the hood is black w/ a 4" riveted on cowl... also black.. right front fender is brown... the nose piece is mostly grey.. but the left front corner is like an urban camoflage... the front and right ground effect are red.

grey 15" Z28 rim in the front...
15" weld draglites in the back

i can garauntee there's not another one round here.
