About 5 seconds or so. I would look in the mirrors and when I saw smoke, I was done.

Doing it that way was good for 1.6x on Nittos

No, drive around it and back into it. Spin them and move forward. Then do your burnout. Roll to the line and go.

I emailed BFG last year with that question. Their response was, "Don't do a burn-out. Just clean the tires. The traction is in the compound." As said above, just getting a little smoke is what they mean by that. Making a big cloud is pleasing to the crowd and tire retailer - it doesn't do you any good (that applies to most slicks as well).

Some places don't let you back in - here they don't tend to mind as long as you're ready to go when the pair ahead of you leaves. Driving through the water shouldn't be a problem as long as they aren't making a duck pond there. But, the humidity is lower here than in a lot of places, so the front wheel water doesn't stay long - certainly doesn't carry up to the line.

No, I always drive around it. I was worried that they wouldn't let me clean off the "meats" cause they have a little bit of tread on em.

my problem with DRs and the burnout box:

you dont need to smoke them for several seconds... unless you just want to show off for the crowd. so lets say you do a normal short burnout.

the part of the tires touching the ground will me dry, warm and ready. but they're treaded.... so the water sticks to the inner part.... then when you roll up to the line, they drip water on the track and screw your launch.

my solution is pretty simple IMO. back up to JUST before the box... to the place where the water is pulled onto the track.. but not IN the puddle..

only the outside gets wet... you break em loose, spin the lil bit of water off, and you're set...
