First time racing

Hey guys. I had my very first time at the track today. I am 16 and i am driving an 87 LT. It has a 305 (LG4). I have added an Eldebrock carb, took off the smog stuff, deleted the cat, added 3 in. exhaust with a flowmaster muffler, and an open element air cleaner. It has the auto 700R4 tranny. It has 2.73 gears and no posi. With no more than i have done to it i figured it would be a mid 16 second car. To my suprise i got a best of 15.539. Here's what my time slip looked like for that run.
R/T--.418
60'--2.336
330--6.592
1/8---10.059
mph--71.12
1/4--15.359
mph--90.15

My R/T isn't very good. Remember, this is my very first time racing. Needless to say, i think i am addicted. I had a great time. I about crapped myself when the first car i had to race was a late 60's Chevelle SS. I was proud of beating 2 Honda Civics. lol. They were both VTECs and one said SI on the side. Anyway, how do you all think i did for what i have?

looks like you did a good job. your next mod would be swapping the rear end for some better gears and a posi. don't forget to throw on some headers, that'll be a huge gain as well.

Really not bad bro. Welcome aboard the thirdgen train. It seems you never forget that very first rush of racing. Now you are hooked, welcome to the rest of your life.

Good job! I am sure with a few more little things you'll have a 14 second car.

Thanks for the comments. Before i go to the track again, i am hoping to run across a set of 3.73 gears and a posi. Over the summer, if i can get a better paying job, i want to build a mild 355 and beef up the 700R4 with a shift kit and a high stall converter. I can't wait to go out again and see if i can get my times a little better. I really need to work on my launching.
