launching a camaro

ok ive been told that if i learned how to drive that i could get into the 15's. so any pointers you guys want to let me know? heres a time slip you can look at:

r/t .535
60ft 2.664
330 7.134
1/8 10.759
mph 67.67
1000 13.886
1/4 16.524
mph 85.54

i tend to launch at 3000-3500rpm. i spin tires from 3500rpm to redline, where i shift and take off with no more tire spin. my 60ft has aways been in the 2.6's once in the 2.5's i dont know where im losing time at. please let me know what you think so that i can make this car preform at its best. thanks.

spinning tires through first gear is bad.. start from a lower rpm and roll the clutch

You want to launch at an rpm that wont overwhelm your tires. Then you must learn how to work the clutch and gas to keep the car accelerating with out breaking loose.Once you have the launch figured out you could try to learn how to powershift.

Powershifting is when you shift without the clutch. Its not something you want to do on the street. Work on launching your car without spinning the tires. Once you get that down you can work on the other stuff.

There is probobly more than one interpitation of power shifting, but what I do when I powershift is while accelerating you are pushing the shifter towards the next shift gate so when you push clutch in(only push it in far enough to disengage, you may want to adjust clutch so you dont have to puch it down very far) the shifter goes into the next gate quikly without having to take your foot off of the gas. What jocww is talking about is shifting off of the fly. If you are very good you can shift without using the clutch at all. It takes a good ear and timing to know when you can do that. If you miss you may do damage to your tranny. For now I would concentrate on your launch. You should be able to get your 60' down to about 2.1, that alone would put you in the hi 15's.

i see two related problems here..

1.. your 60' time is awful. with bad street tires on a ill prepared track, you should still get a 2.1 or lower.
2. your launch RPM is waaay too high for street tires.

the problem is this... when you launch at 3k, its just breaking the tires loose, and you sit there spinning.
what you need to do is launch at a lower RPM, and be SMOOTH but SWIFT letting the clutch out... remember that, smooth and swift.
dont jerk the clutch, dont side step it on launch, just be smooth and swift. you might actually feel like you just launched slower.. but look at the time slips... use the 60' there as how it went.. ideally with your car, and dont take this the wrong way, it shouldnt be violent at all.. it should just accelerate and go..

Powershifting to me is not letting off the gas to shift. Shifting without the clutch on a street car IMO is stupid.

Also, what the hell is with "Listen to the syncros line up?"

You wont hear the synchros line up. When done right however, you wont hear grinding from the synchros not lining up.

I agree. Trying to shift off the fly is not realy a good idea. some people can do it, but I dont see the sense. Just asking to break something IMO.
