New best this weekend at SLP day

Well im finally gettin to the lower 15's now but not too happy. first run on saturday i ran a 15.280 at 89.39mph with a 60' of 2.23. this is running on a set of used M&H racemaster dot slicks.

now on my second run is when something very bad happened but yet it was a simple little fix. after bumping up the timming from 36* to 38* i went back to the lanes and made my secondrun. i went 19.496 at 39.34mph now my 60' didnt get that much better it was a 2.22 and that was still on the slicks.
now as i was goin down the track about almost at i think the 1000' mark a loud pop came from the engine and it felt like i blew either the motor or a head gasket. so i coasted down to the first turn off and this is after i couldnt get the motor fired up again. after checkin for leaks, fuel and then noticing i had no spark. took a quick look and notice one of the wires for the coil came loose. pluged it back in and fired right up.

third and last run i went 15.70 at 88.13mph this was back on stock rims and tires. and got a 2.23 60'. i lost that run becuz i dialed in at a 15.15 figuring maybe to run better but wasnt my day after that second run. also weighed the car in at 3558 with me in the car, last time was 3616 only differnce was i took the rear seats out and had my prostar rims and slicks.

if you guys can give me any pointers or anything that would be great. i still dont know why im only gettin a 2.23 60' with or without slicks. and last time i was at the track i ran a 15.3 at 90 mph i think i might want to go with 34* timming and try tuning my carb up, now that i got the tunning kit from edelbrock.

sorry for the long post.

Are you having traction problems??

If so, I did a couple of stuff
1. Put the battery in the truck.
2. Take off the front sway bar.
3. Get lower control arm relocation brackets.
4. Remove anything out of the engine compartment that is not needed(smog pump)
5. Drop the tire pressue(stock to about 16, slicks to 13)

Hope this helps!

I would go out and buy a good A/F meter - I have the Edelbrock one. You will be able to tune the motor a million times easier with one of them.

My old LG4 IROC ran 15.2 at 92 all day with only a dual snorkel intake, edelbrock intake, banks y-pipe, 3" cat, and 3" cat-back, perfect tuning, and an edelbrock micro-plus. Considering the car didn't have as many go-fast parts as yours, you should be probably running mid 14's with your car.

well my battery is relocated to the back. i have pretty much noting but motor and brakes in the engine bay. i didnt take off the front sway bay becuz i wasnt sure or not, i had all the tools to do so but ended up not doin it. my slicks were at 20 psi i should have dropped them to 18 but i was alittle pissed after that second run and plus im sure one of my rims is bent becuz i have a horrible vibration above 65.

my air fuel gauge is a brand new auto meter along with there sending unit/ o2 sensor. i dont have it exzactly at the top of the exuast pipe ecuz it would hit the body, i have it right after the collector, my headers didnt come with an o2 bung and i wasnt ready to pull the driverside header out.

also i have a edelbrock carb tunning kit sittin in my room. so i think when i set my timming back to 36* ill try tuning it again.

also when im cruiseing along and i start to give it partial to almost half gas it starts to go lean and sometime very lean. but if i back off the gas alittle bit it goes back to rich/stoich. im cunfused.

and im alittle pissed i didnt break into the 14's and yet alittle more pissed since i know it should be in the mid 14's with what i have done.

anything else guys i think i might try again in a couple weeks at the import vs. domestics round 4 and see how it does.
