Help!! 355tpi running 15sec et
Here is what I have. Balanced 355 with kb 10:1 pistons, comp cam 210/220/480/480/112, cast l98 heads polished exhaust ports/ chambers, z28 valve springs, comp rollertipped rockers, slp intake runner & airfoil, cold air intake with k&n,
custom programmed ecu (map) 1 5/8" headers, 2 1/2" dual exhaust (no cats) flowmaster 40's, eaton 3.42 posi, 700r4 B&M 2500 stall, transgo shift kit. This is in a 94 s10. weight 3650lbs with driver.
2.1 60ft / 1/4 et 15.1 @ 91mph on street tires
best et's @ 4400 shifts.
The motor is a good tire burner but lays down on the topend.
What is the trick to make this thing work??
Had the truck on a sun dyno, it made good power 285rwhp.
Those numbers aren't reflected in the et's, so I definitely have a problem. Is it fuel or computer?
Thanks

Traction is killing you but so is altitude. Dyno numbers are always corrected to sea level. Racing at altitude will slow any vehicle down. Dyno numbers and track numbers don't always match. The dyno can't adjust for track conditions, weather conditions etc.
Pumping the numbers into my formulas still show you lower than what you should be running though. My truck runs about the same MPH and ET but also weights 4600 pounds.
Shift point seems very low. How old are the valve springs?

Well the valve springs are new along with everything else. The motor has 12,000km since rebuild. The track is at 2500ft. the temps were warm when I raced (80+F). The truck was also dynoed at this altitude. Traction is a issue but the low mph is the problem I have.

The hot weather isn't helping. Even if the barometric pressure was really low, increasing the density altitude, your ET/MPH only indicate around 240 corrected HP.
I'd say ignore the dyno numbers and tune the vehicle to get the best mph. Mph is the indication of HP. ET depends on traction and gearing.

Back when I had my old tranny, i was running 14.6's @ 91mph letting it shift at 4400rpm. Next run I manually shifted at 5200rpm and it went 14.1 @ 99.7 and gained 8mph

I also have 2.73 gears

My best times were at 4500 shifts. 5 - 5500rpm shifts were embarassing. 5.7's with a few bolt ons were running mid 14's.
I know my truck (wifes) should run better. What is the trick to make a tpi haul ****??? I think I'm having a computer issue but it could also be fuel. I am running stock injectors, tb and s10 fuel pump (46 psi I think)
