TTA roadcourse?

Anyone take their TTA to a roadcourse? Get any pictures or vids?

We have a short course here and I was kicking the idea around of taking the TTA the next time it rolls around.

Do not track the car unless you are willing to damage it. A TTA would not be my choice for a track car. But I will say that it should be a blast on a road course.

One owner on the TTA mailing list road raced his. He said after getting use to it, car did very well. He said you kinda have to stay on the gas while braking to keep the boost up in the corners to keep the power somewhat steady as well.

It has most of the 1LE options plus 50/50 weight distribution. So it can do more than just go straight quickly.

I managed to find a picture at 89tta.com, but I was hoping to find a few more. But yeah, IF I did go, I would take it easy for awhile, just to have fun with the car - it would really suck if I wrecked. It's seen 1/4 mile use at least twice, but not under me. COnsidering our track is going bye-bye in less then a year, it'll probably never see track time ever again.

Sigh...

I'd say take a closer look at the track, and what the runout areas look like. I'd stay away if there's concrete or tire walls in places where you're likely to spin out. OTOH, if there's nice open runout areas, and the event organizers are on the ball with proper instruction and enforcement of passing rules, you probably don't have a lot to worry about IMHO. And you'll have a blast doing it, and become a much better driver in the process.

From what I've seen, most drivers in the novice & intermediate groups aren't particularly interested in trading paint or bending sheet metal. So guys tend to give each other plenty of room, and the organizers should be quick to deal with anyone who doesn't.

The few wrecks I've seen all involved guys going off-track, while trying too hard to save it. (i.e going off sideways where the tires dig in resulting in a rollover; or overcorrecting, and darting back across the track when the front wheels finally do catch some traction). If you overcook things and know you're going off track, the best thing you can do is just drive the damn car straight off until you get it stopped. If you have sufficient runout area to do this, about the worst you'll do to the car is get it dirty, and possibly mess up the airdam (and intercooler scoop on a TTA).

I mention the going off sideways deal, since you're in Hawaii, and I'd imagine with all the rain there you might have soft/wet/muddy grass, etc. where the tires can dig in, so leaving the track going sideways is a concern. As long as you leave the pavement going forwards (or backwards ) with the wheels pointed straight, you'll be fine.

At the National F-Body Event, there are a couple of TTA's that hit the road course. They do very well. Both turn down the boost also for some safety.

The TTA's have all the 1LE equipment and do handle very well.
