First run of the year

I had to wait all winter to run my T/A 305 peanut cam 2.73 all stock.

First run 9.91 launched at 1200rpm, spun for a full 2 seconds.

Second run 9.81 punched it from idle, still spun a lot.

1-2 shift at 4900rpm, crossing the 1/8th mile at around 4800rpm.

Ill prolly race again at a different track so I can get the 60ft times and 1/4 mile time. First mods will prolly be a 2400 converter, good tires, and a dyno tune. Then mabey a small turbo

i would put a set of sticky tires on it before anything, the look into the converter, and gears.

mph was 67-69. 60fts were probably 2.3's I have a set of M/T ET Street Radials I thought about putting on, but there 28" tall, so I dont think it would make any difference in ET.

A Converter will make a huge difference though. When I punch it now it goes to 2000rpm and kinda stays there, then when it gets up to 2500 the car starts takin off. Rear gears wil be left alone for some time. Right now Im crossing the 1/8th mile right where I want to be. Any more gearing and Ill be shifting into 3rd just short of the end.

2.73's keep your rpm's low during most of the run. Higher gears will not only feel faster, but you'll get better times, even if you have to shift into 3rd. I would definately do the gears first. Unless you really like the fact that you can cruise at 1800rpm on the highway, ditch the 2.73's. Get some 3.42's if not 3.73's. The difference will be night and day.

Changing gears is a lot of work and I do like getting 30mpg highway A 2400converter will take a couple tenths off as long as the car hooks. And I can install it in a couple hours by myself.

60ft, MPH, and 1/4 ET probably next weekend, as long as it dont rain.

Spent $20 to get 4 runs in 5 hours todays. Definetly not worth my money.

60ft-2.28
330-6.547
1/8- 10.0 @69mph
1/4-15.8 @84.7mph

Had a couple problems. Still not hooking perfect, rolled into it. Everytime I let off the throttle just a centimeter to let it shift at 4900rpm, it would downshift as soon as I rolled back into it again. On one of the 2-3 shifts it downshifted back 2nd after being in third for over a second. WTF

So I probably lost half a second to those things. Uphill track too, +.2 seems to be the average for 14-16 second cars at Quaker City Raceway.

So its probably a 15.0-15.4 second bone stock 305 peanut cam 2.73 car. Not bad. The only good part was running the 15.8@84mph and beating the 5.0 Stang next to me that ran 15.7@87mph. Yep, a 1.0 reaction time will do that.haha. My best was .652, no practice.

I was at Test & Tune!!! Thats one of the reasons most people hate Quaker City Raceway. There so slow and have classes for everything, and no strict T&T night. Its always a mix of all classes. But its the only 1/4 mile track 15min from my house, so.... mabey to Norwalk this summer.

Try Sunset dragstrip in northeast PA. The faster you drive down the return, the sooner you race again. Literaly, I could do a run every minute.
