SLICK Sidewall help

ok i am getting ready to buy a pair of slicks and i saw that theres different compaounds and such and i understand tthat there softer and all. My question is should i go with a stiffer sidewall? The ET streets that i have now wrinkle like crazy and I was thinking if I could not wrinkle so much would that get some faster ets? not wasting time/ power in wrinkling the tires? Does that make any sense?

wrinkling creates a bigger foot print at the launch. I had some ET streets and some hoosiers and I liked the hoosiers better. But if it's for the track only, might as well just run the ET drags or the hoosiers.

I like the stiff side wall best.

Heavy cars, 3000+ pounds, need a stiff sidewall.

It's not really a matter of what compound you need but the size. If you can only use a 28x9, you'll find that in one brand, MT etc, you'll only have one choice of compound. MT won't make a 28 x 9 slick in 3 different compounds to suit 3 different racers. You get what they offer. If the compound isn't available in the size you want, you run the compound they give you or change the car to use a different tire size to use a different compound.

Now keeping the same size but switching from MT to GoodYear or Hoosier will give you different compounds. It's easy to have the right size but the wrong compound or tire construction. A simple swap to a different brand can make a big difference.

I run the M/T 28x10.5x15S I like the stiff sidewall tire alot better than my old 28x10.5x15W's.
