Ls1 at the track....

Well lets just say it was kind of a dissapointing day, although the car came back with nothing broken so i guess thats a plus. Well we head out and get there around 10 and unload the car. I waited about half hour and warmed up the rear and made sure a clouple of big tire cars went down the track first.

Well i basically unload it with the stock tune in it to get a baseline run or 2. Well the first 2 runs went almost exact same, 12.18@111.72 w/1.77 60' and 12.16@111.75 w/1.79 60'.

So i get back to the trailer and want to start to tune it. Well the damn laptop wouldnt let me log in. I tried everything and found out that computer took a crap on me. So i am at the track w/ no way to tune the damn car. I decide to make 2 more passes and pull the plugs. The next 2 runs were withing .01 of the first 2 another 12.18 and 12.19. The plugs were fricken bright white again.

I decide that the only think i can kind of do to change this is up the fuel pressure. The stock psi on the ls1 is 58psi so i upped it to 60. made a pass and ran a 11.91@113.8 w/1.71 60'. Well that is what i needed alot more fuel so i upped it to 62psi and made another pass and ran a 11.71@115.10 w/1.71 60'. This is all with the stock tuning.

Over all it was a decent day at the track. I could have made probably 10 more runs but didnt really see a point without tuning. Im sure with some tuning i will see some very low 11's if not some high 10's. This winter i am also going to put on an ls6 manifold and do some tuning w/ a wideband. Goal for next year is 10.70's cam only NA and 9.50's on spray. O well im happy with getting in the 11's but know that there is still alot more in her.

I was very dissapointed with the 60ft time though. I think it has something to do with the stock timing and large cam but it feels really sluggish off the line until about the 60' mark then it starts pulling. I was pulling to front left about 2-3" so the weight transfer is good. I was going off the trans brake at 5000 and dead hooking, so i know something is wrong. I think i should be cutting mid 1.4's to 1.5's easy.

Thats pretty damn good for the first time out.

Pretty amazing that you got almost .5 and 4mph out of 4psi of fuel pressure. That thing had to be running pretty lean. Like you said, get it tuned right and watch the times drop even further.

Do you care to give any cam specs? Is the motor cam only?

We've got some other LS1 3rdgen guys hunting for 9's around here, good luck on being the first.

I agree. Very good times for the first time out. When you get it dialed in lookout.

Yea it is just a cam only motor. The cam is the texas speed and performance ms3. Here are the specs......
237/242 .603/.609 on a 112 + 4

I would like to step up to a larger cam next year but would like to see what this one can do first. I might go to something in the 248 254 ish .637 .649 on a 108 or 110.
