Anyone running dominators?
Just curious if anyone here is running a Dominator? I picked up a 1050 Holley Dominator and manifold during my engine build and am considering running it. A friend of mine picked up about 3 tenths swapping between a 1050 Dominator and a 1050 Race Demon on a roller 377.
My engine is a 377, 12:1 compression, 235cc Pro Topline aluminum heads with cnc chambers, solid roller specs at 262/266@.050, .665/.625, Jesel 1.6 Shaft rockers, 4200 stall and a few other goodies.
Anyone here running a Dominator? Anyone think this carb is going to be way overkill? Any chance of it being manageable on the street? I am considering trading it for something like an 850 Mighty Demon, but 3 tenths is a lot to give up...

i can't see driving it on the street but some of the chicago guys do it on bigger SBC engines. Best bet would be to give it a try and see what happens, but it might be overkill for that small an engine.

We have a local racer who runs an altered. It has a 434 SBC with 2 dominators on it. It also runs 7 second 1/4 miles. Not exactly streetable.
My 540 has two 850's on it and I'll be switching to two flying toilets some time in the near future. The toilets are 1800 cfm each, 4.1" throttle bodies.

I`m using a 1090 king demon but it`s on a 496 w/ 14.1 I think it`s too much for carb for you. I`m assuming the race demon was a 4150 flange and he went to a 1050 4500 flange? The only differences I can think that would contribute is the throttle blades being more spaced out, (closer to the ports) and the venturies being a bit taller (increased velocity) , Possibly his 1050 race demon was set up poorly
For a track only car it might be better to use a 4500 flange over the 4150.
On your dominator you want run on the street, you`ll need to learn how to tune emulsion bleeds and air bleeds to get it run decent on the street, you will also need to start with a 3 circuit dominator
Mine runs fine on the street but every now and then it`ll gurgle..they are really not meant for part throttle at all.
