motor block
I had this in the engine swap forum and didnt get a lot of feed back so I thought I would see what you guys thought.
Hi guys,
Ive got some questions about this block GM Goodwrench#10066036 "hecho en mexico" I've had this 350 in my car for about 15,000 mile, I bought it used and it has worked well with just edelbrock performer stuff on it. Now I'm turning my car in a drag car and wanting to build a 383 with this block, I'm wondering how much this hp/tq this block can handle or if any of you have used this block for high performance 500+ power. I had a guy tell me that he has heard of goodwrench blocks cracking in the lifter valley? Anybody else heard bad news about these blocks?

Cracking in the lifter valley is usually due to freezing - e.g., not enough antifreeze.
But, the block should be carefully checked over before stroking it. If it is crack free, then a good solid rebuild with good rotating parts should allow it to do the job.

Re: motor block
what I found from the casting number
10066036...350...........2 or 4 bolt main....Target Master/Goodwrench crate motor
2-piece rear seal, "Hecho en Mexico"
if its not a 4 bolt block already I recommend having it drilled.

Re: motor block
just get it fluxed and if it checks out it should be plenty strong for 500hp. Though i prefer splayed 4 bolts over standard 4 bolt main block

Re: motor block
on a street engine, 2 bolt or 4 bolt mains doesn't matter at all.
