New Blower Engine.....
Hey guys.......i've been kinda MIA for awhile, but im getting back into the swing now....the new blower motor is going together finally......basically the same combo, just a few stronger parts that won't go boom this time hopefully.
Still a 383, only now with a callies magnum crank, manley billet rods, and a Dart little M block.
Here's some pics.....

Re: New Blower Engine.....
It actually didnt go "boom" which is kinda frustrating.......the blower said "F U" to the crank snout and twisted the billet steel hub of my ati damper on it......even though it was double keyed.....it didnt shear the key off, but it rolled up on it a little bit.....enough that the snout was wrecked and had to come out......so i got a callies magnum (which is basically the strongest crank you can buy, its rated for like 2500hp) with a big block snout. Not that you need a crank like this, but they don't make a dragonslayer with the BBC snout.
and since we saw how much power it made on the dyno (over 800 at the wheel) when it wasn't even running right, we decided it was time for a good block too.
these blocks are bad *** though........but they don't give them away

Re: New Blower Engine.....
I would have gone much bigger on the motor since you had to buy a new crank and block anyways
But I'm crazy like that. Otherwise it looks good glad to see you made it back on here hope to see some numbers come spring.

Re: New Blower Engine.....
but it was a cost/benefit thing.......then i'd need new pistons too.....and alot of other parts.....
and since the motor was already making around 1,000hp at the crank at only 20psi and 6500rpm (should be 30psi and 7500rpm) it was like "whats the point?"
it's not gonna run 2's lol.......so a 383 it stayed.
----------
ya the block with the billet steel main caps is supposed to be good for like 2000hp or so......it cost me about 2200bucks i think.......at cost. I'm not sure what that block costs retail.

Re: New Blower Engine.....
its definitely an evil setup with those caps......with the 4 bolt front and rear mains as well......the damn lifter bosses are really tall though, so i need to get new lifters too......mine bottom out the link bar on the bosses
Re: New Blower Engine.....
I was going to say nice shaft, but that doesnt sound good at all, so uh nice setup you got there. I am testing the horse power limit of a factory roller block at the moment i make about 900 hp also with a 383, i didnt use parts nearly as nice as that though lol. looks sweet that bbc snout will help alot with the strength up front. as a funny story, my neighbor has a 71 with a 6-71 on it , one day he was fooling around doing burnouts at the end of the street, and it started shaking like hell and shut off and smoke started pouring out, so did oil...then after getting in his driveway, he foun the balancer broke where the key is.....lucky bastard lol, later he pushed a head gasket out , doing burnouts...lol, now i think it has burnt a piston from actually racing it lol

900hp is about the limit for a factory roller block.....plenty of people have already tested that for you lol.......
preston smith (who's pretty well known around here) split his open at about 900hp.
