RPM inconsistent when blower motor turned on

Hi all...

First a quick into. I just bought a 1992 Camaro RS 2 weeks ago and I am finally back in the f body club. I am a computer geek that is trying to learn how to work on these...so I am very much a novice. That being said I have a brother that is a mechanic that can help me in a pinch.

My Camaro is a manual that originally was a 305...it does not have the original engine in it and it was sold to me as a 350, but I have not been able to confirm that...

My brother and I took the valve covers off and he was extremely surprised at how clean the engine was. Makes me happy.

The issue I am having is that if I turn on the blower motor (heat or A/C) the idle starts to bounce up and down. As soon as I turn the blower off it idles fine. My brother is more familiar with newer cars, so we are going to start experimenting with things, but I thought I would toss the question out here.

Any suggestions?

Thanks in advance...I am probably going to be spending a lot of time on these forums in the coming years!

Check your ground on the blower motor. Or add another from motor ground to firewall.

THIS EXACT Problem drove Pontiac crazy for a week on mine back in 88

Agreed. Sounds like when the engine was replaced, someone forgot the braided ground from the frame to the block.
