It was fun... but
Okay
Well just came back from the local track for the first time ever. I haven't raced before and wow it was such a blast. It was very hot outside, 29 degress celcius . My Best run was a 14.4 @97 mph with a 2.3 60 ft time. This was done on BFG Radial T/A's... I am thinking it was just beginners luck because the next run 15.07 @ 94.49 mph with a 2.52 60 ft. It just progressively got worse from there. My car hasn't been dynoed yet but im estimating atleast 275 rwhp and 350 rwtq...
My carburetor was acting up as well.. and so was the traction, wow now i understand why people don't use them on the track haha...
Now, how would I be able to get my 60 ft's down and my et's up...
I know I need drag radials, and gears but would getting my carburetor tuned on a dyno be worth more than just tuning in the garage sort of thing??

Re: It was fun... but
60' down and ET down, not ET up.
Traction. You need some sort of slick. Street tires just don't cut it at the track. Spinning off the line really hurts ET. You should have a 2.0 60' time at the most. 1.9's would be good, 1.8's would be great. I'd recommend a second set of rims for some slicks. Don't drive from Winnipeg to Gimli on any DOT rated slick.
Since you lost MPH on that second run then you were making less HP. Find out what's wrong with the carb.
It's an addictive bug. You'll keep going back for more.

wouldn't slicks hurt my rear end? It's not built up for anything but if I could get et streets would that be good as well?

Maybe try some leaner jets.
Are you absolutely positive that you are running rich?
Remember, that I have a set of drag radials if you want.
I don't believe that you were spinning off the line, so I think the carb and the gears need to be addressed.

Re: It was fun... but
Later on my last few runs I was getting 2.6 60 fts because at launch ( was brake standing at 1000 rpm) when i got to about 3000 rpm (stall the converter is rated at) i started spinning like crazy! I had to let off a few times because all it was doing was spinning down the track haha
Yes I actually do remember that you have drag radials, I dont think I'll be needing them this year because I am going to do some body work so the camaro is back in the garage, and going to school won't have any extra money to spend but I'll keep that in mind...

Your signature says you're still running the open diff. I would swap that out with some different gears. Then get some drag radials. It is addicting and just takes alot of practice. I have yet to run my car with my new combo... much less a manual.

You should look at getting a 3.43 or 3.73 gears to knock off a few tenths on the 60 foot
