Leave it on or off when Racing

I am debating about leaving the front sway bar on or off when I race. Its not that easy to get off, and is kind of a pain. I can't really tell much of a difference in times. Anyone have any advice or experience with this?

from looking at your sig, it probably wont make much of a difference.. people take it off for weight reduction to improve traction, but looks like your car has enough of that already.. i daily drive without one so its cool.. some say losing the bar helps loosen up the front suspension as well.. idk.. if you can drive it without one, take it off.. just remember that you have to take it easy on the turns..

The bar isn't very heavy, I just take one end link off. It frees up the suspension and is pretty easy to do.

If you don't want to remove it completely, just disconnect one end. Removing it is better.

Re: Leave it on or off when Racing

With it disconnected, you allow the front end to rise easier to allow weight transfer. Without it, you also reduce the front end weight of the car. Any weight saving will help the ET. Allowing the front end to rise may or may not help. It depends on your power level and traction.

A front sway bar has no place on the dragstrip. It works well for autocross because it helps keep the front end from diving and plowing in the corners.

A rear sway bar should be used all the time.

^^ Agreed

Taking the sway bar off will make the front end pop up pretty easily which will help transfer weight to the rear and plant the tires. May want to take it easy the first or second time at the track because it does make the front end pop up and can get a little squirrley (spelling, i know).

Re: Leave it on or off when Racing

Granted i've never been one to carve corners, going back to when i first got this car in stock form, but i honestly could tell zero difference after removing the front sway bar, none at all. After reading all the stuff on this board back when i joined i thought it was going to be driving like some 1970's big boat impala with bad shocks...was'nt the case, i absolutely could not tell that i took the thing off, it still took corners just fine.

Once i out the spool, 90/10 struts, trick springs, 50/50 rear shocks on..THEN i could tell a difference and it took some getting used to over the stock set up, but now it's just second nature to drive it since i know the limitations.
