fuel set up
i have a 88 trans am, going to full drag car. i was wondering what people were using fuel wise. ie: cell, pump, regulator and lines. im thinking of mounting the cell in the hatch, finding a return style pump and using that, so i would only need 1 line running up to the front instead of 2. love to see some pics also!!
planning on running a -500hp small block untill i finish my bbc. will be using nitrous
edit: found a few pics for ideas, now just wondering about pump/regulator selection

Re: fuel set up
Fuel cell must be isolated from the driver's compartment. If you mount it inside the car, the must be a firewall separating it from the rest of the inside of the car such as the pictures in the above link.
Using a bypass pump is better for the pump. The pump will operate at a no load condition all the time and only supply as much fuel as the engine demands. The rest is returned to the tank.
For a drag only car, you don't need a large fuel cell. I use a 4 gallon cell and have it mounted up front. I refill it after every pass. Mounting it in the rear requires a bigger pump to compensate the G-forces to push the fuel to the front.

I run a Product Engineering fuel pump with the filter built into the pump. Here is a picture of my fuel cell setup. Also a diagram of a fuel system. Buy a good pump the first time than It will be good for any motor setup.

3 gal. front mounted cell, -10 from cell to pump, 140 GPH electric pump, mallory bypass regulator. Definetely go with a bypass regulator, i was having some fuel delivery issues until I installed the bypass regulator.

Re: fuel set up
never tought about mounting the tank up front. i did remove the 5 million pound reinforcement so with a little fab work i think mounting in the front may be the best way to go. not to mention less money in braided lines. If you have a min. could you poist a picture of how you have it set up... i will surf your site latter to see if you have one there. any guesses as to what gph i may need. i dont want to change the pump when i go to a bigger set up. i plan on eventually going 4XX big block with single stage n20 say 250 hp shot. I like the Product Engineering fuel pump with the filter built into it, but it seems kind of bulky to mount up front.
THANKS!!
one bad.... you may have a copy cat on the loose shortly that set up is really clean. im guessing you cut the sheet metal where the stock tank was and fab. a new "trunk" for the cell?

My car is tubbed so all the stock metal from the back off the seats are gone and all fabricated from there back. Good luck on your project.

You'll also notice I have a tiny rad behind the tranny oil cooler giving me more room for the fuel cell. The rad support has been cut out and refabricated. There's a brace across the bottom that the fuel cell sits on. The line off the top is the roll over vent. The 2 lines on the side are return lines. One comes from the barrel valve, the other comes from the 3 way valve on the belt driven pump. I run alcohol injection.
