2008 comes to a close..
so this year was not the greatest year in history for me.. heres the good and the bads of my 2008..
Good:
got a wideband for tuning
news street tires
got a shiftlight (finally)
made it to the track 3 times (2 for me, 1 for brother)
found out that i can possibly hit 10's with just a carb and exhaust swap ($$$$$) plus weight reduction (wheels & hood)
Bad/found out:
electric water pump died (ending my july race a few runs in)
electric vacuum pump for brakes died (ended november races before it started)
tuned my A/F ratio for fuel economy, not power (loss .4 sec)
needed to go back to mech. water(lose power)
and convert to manual brakes ($$$)
and my power steering is leaking so probably convert to manual steering too ($$$)
also, the SFI on my seat belts and bellhousing are up next year so more money ($$$$)
not enough gear for my motor ($$$) need 4.56
axles are twisting ($$$) need 33 spline
9" case will probably not hold ($$$) going nodular
detroit truetrac is broken and not turning ($$$) going to spool
need to fab crossmember for torque arm ($) custom by me
alternator needs an upgrade ($$) 140 amp
ok so how was everyone elses year?? hope better

Wow sounds like your car took you through the ringer this year. This year went by without a hitch, last year the only thing that happend was my lower radiator hose broke and sprayed all the way down the track. I was so pissed I didn't race the rest of the year!

speed costs, how fast do you want to go?
if you're not breaking go faster until you are

Re: 2008 comes to a close..
this year good
find a good deal on a car trailer...bought it
10 bolt rear and my 700r4 survive to low 1.6x and some low 1.5x on juice all season
bad...almost all my fault, this is sad cause you can blame no one except you
car never get reliable so always on the trailer
busted pushrod, had problem with my polylock(badly tighten)
wiped cam
mecanical advance got blocked, was running at 15deg
now shortblock need refresh cause of the wiped cam
still having fuel issue

The Good:
Winning 3 races at the home track.
5 trophies from the home track (5 more than in 2004, my "Wally year").
Finishing 4th in the class I won in 2006.
Beating a 2-class champion (2 just this year alone - something like 6 season championships for a 21-year-old) on consecutive days with an average RT of .008 in two different cars.
First race win in the Camaro ever (son had taken it to the final in the High School class in 2006). Round 5 of that race was the first win against the above 21-year-old.
My first experience with nitrous, running my first 11-second & 110 MPH pass.
Making the Pinks All Out 16.
Finishing in the top 25 in the "Pro" class, first year I've competed in that class foot braking against tranny brake cars (~130 registered for season points).
The Bad:
Not qualifying for the Division 5 team for the first time since 2002.
Breaking a valve spring on the Camaro, making for a frustrating mid-season for my son until I figured out what was wrong).
The Ugly:
All too many first round runner-ups.
The 3 races won being in different classes (no points accumulation).
No round wins going into the 3rd race of the season in the class I won in 2006.
2-step failing on me 3rd race of the year when I was finally "on", against the person who ended up finishing 3rd in the class I won in 2006.
Red-lighting in the first round of the last race of the season in the class I won in 2006, and the rear end letting go at half track, ending my summer points chances, keeping me from qualifying for the Division 5 team by one round, and keeping me from finishing higher in the "Pro" class (I had won the first round in that class, couldn't make the call for the 2nd round). First time ever the '57 didn't make it home under its own power.
Loosing in the first round in the last race of the season in the class I finished 2nd in 2003 and 2007, finishing "off the podium" by mere tie-breaker points behind 4th thru 6th place (one round win in that last race would have put me in 3rd place).
