26" to 28" tires
Okay so the last time at the track it seemed like i was all out of everything i had just a lttle bit before the traps and i was thinking if i went to a 28" tire itd solve this. now i know ill lose gear ratio. i have 3.42 gears now. I want this to be helpful o the spray meaning i much more tire for the spray. and ill have more mph.
on the 26" tire i went 10.3 at 131 ad i seemed to run out almost around the 1100 or sometin idk exactly

What's your RPM at the Traps? Here's a calculator that should help.

figure on the tire pulling .2 out of your rear gear, along with helping any traction issues at the starting line. What was your trap rpm? those calculators don't account for any converter slip % you may have.

on spray i ended up at 7000 or 6900. i honestly dont know if i should go bigger tire or tighten the converter up maybe?

tightening the converter would be more for the launch not the big end. What is your motors peak rpm? If you feel it nose over then as long as it's not a fuel delivery issue then swapping to the 28" slicks would be the next choice. Especially with a stock 10 bolt and then you think you're going to spray on it? I doubt it will hold up.

Re: 26" to 28" tires
its held a lot. idc if i blow it up. motor pulls to like 6600-6800 on spray but i feel like im dying that last little bit
it pulls all the way up until then.

Re: 26" to 28" tires
What the rpm range of the camshaft? Running out of power at the top end might be at the end of the powerband but could also be a number of other things. Heads not flowing enough air, not enough fuel and or pressure, weak valve springs etc.
If you're running out of rpm before the finish then going to a bigger tire will help regardless of the gear ratio. Back when I had a 383, I was running a 26" tire with 3.27 gears and managed high 11's at 117 mph. The car really needed deeper gears as I was shifting into high gear well after the 1/8 mile mark. I swapped over to a 10 bolt with 4.10 gears and went to 27.5" tires and the combination was almost perfect.
Stuff the tallest tire you can under the fenders then adjust the gearing to best suit the tires. The taller tire will increase your MPH speed but may slow down the ET because it will be slightly slower off the line. Then again, the taller tire has a larger footprint from front to back and will usually increase traction preventing wheel spin.
When you see magazine pro street cars with 32+ tall tires and 3.42 gears or worse, you know the car is designed for highway use not dragstrip racing. Chances are the article will never mention an ET because the car isn't set up for 1/4 mile racing. Any tire/gearing combination can be used. For dragstrip use, you want to be at or just after the shift point as you cross the finish line.
Last year I was using 4.86 gears. My shift light would come on just past the 1000' mark. Between 1000' and the 1/4 mile, my car barely increased acceleration. This year I have 4.57 gears to bring the rpms down but I also installed some bigger heads to help it breath on the top end so I may have to put the 4.86 gears back in. I won't know until I get some track time.
My calculated converter slip is a measly 4%. I feel anything under 10% is acceptable.

Re: 26" to 28" tires
Ya I talked to motor guy who helped me said camshaft is right out of the the power band so I'm gonna to with 28" tires
The afr is like 13.2 on motor and 12.6 on the spray
Thanks guys
