Friday night T&T
I went to the street legal night last night to do some more T&T. The air was fantastic or at least fantastic for our location. Last weekend, our best air was 5200' density altitude. I fattened the fuel mixture in anticipation of good air. My first pass last night was at 4620 and my last pass, before calling it a night, was 3920 and still dropping.
Official car count had 140 cars given tech cards. I'd guess there were a couple of hundred cars just with spectators. It was getting too crowded after my third pass and I don't like having to run in the dark.
First pass. 1.414 60' time. 9.558 @ 142.67. I felt a lot of tire shake so I returned to the pits and did some shock adjustments on the front and rear. Traction was excellent and I wanted to take advantage of it.
Second pass. 1.353 60' time 9.423 @ 143.17. I'd love to see video of this run. It felt like I tripped the 60' timers with the back wheels. The crowd loved it. My in car camera failed so I don't even have that to see the run. Came back to the pits and bumped the timing another degree or 2 and dropped the launch rpm from 5700 to 5000.
Third and last pass of the night. 1.345 60' time. 9.375 @ 143.35. 1/8 mile was 5.984 @ 116.61. Almost equaled my best times from last year. Actual HP on that run based on the standard power to weight formulas was 740.24 hp from ET and 709.48 hp from MPH. Using a dyno correction formula to account for the conditions, the engine was making 813.93 from ET and 783.24 from MPH. Not record numbers but very close. Theoretically at sea level, the car should have run 9.083 @ 148.43
The season is almost over and I can't wait til next year when I do a cam change and install my fiberglass doors.
