Lakewoods worth it?
Lakewood's 90/10 struts essentially are designed to let the front end lift without slowing the spring down for maximum weight transfer right?
Would they offer much better weight transfer than stock "dead" struts? Seems like there wouldn't be a LOT of difference, or are they really worth $200 a pair?
I've never seen this discussed before, just curious

I guess it really depends on your car, and what you are willing to do to get it to 60' at its very best. I never had the struts in the front, but I had used the companys rear adjustable shocks. I have heard from a few that they should not be used on the street, especially with skinnys up front, and others have said they are fine. Most of all, from the people using them on the strip, I personally never heard anything bad, and they do indeed work well. By themselves, I would think you will not get any real benifit from them, without other suspension mods. Your suspension is a "system" and is meant to work together, to the style of driving you do.
I would click this search in the Susp/Chassis board, and Im sure you will come up with some info

I have them on mine and get 1.5 60' times on motor and low 1.4's on N2O. This is with a 255/55/16 ET Street Radial.

From being around several cars that have run them for extended periods; if you do a lot of street/highway driving they will eventually lock-up. I would assume it's a heat/cycle issue and that the pistons gall/freeze to the cylinder over time with extended use such as street driving.
I think they work fine for a lower powered vehicle, but they are far too loose and do not settle down well for high power apps.
My street car on 17" dr's went 1.66-1.69 60fts with plain KYB's in the front. My outlaw car goes low 1.1's with gas-matics, lol.

Re: Lakewoods worth it?
So correct me if I'm wrong, but from what I've read/gathered from researching this, the lakewoods really aren't going to give me any more weight transfer than dead struts right? By dead, I mean they practically collapse under their own weight, lol
I have a coil over kit with 14 inch #150 springs, just haven't installed it yet because I wasn't sure if I should upgrade struts, or if my original ones would allow me to get plenty of weight transfer. The only advantage new struts seem to offer would be less nose-dive when braking, but the lakewoods wouldn't really improve that much either it looks like

Re: Lakewoods worth it?
I have 90/10's and really couldnt tell the differnce from 70/30's. They work fine on the street the car takes a little bit to settle downafter the launch which isn't good for aerodynamics. Mine are bottomed out right now with the BBC I swapped in so I need to upgrade the coils springs. They worked fine with sbc not sure how they will react with the BBC or if i really need them. the are a great addition if you have stock rear suspension and traction issues They will help move the weight by lifting the car.

Re: Lakewoods worth it?
I would rec that you save your money and go with a set of adjustable Knoi SPA-1 adjustable struts. I used to run a set of the Lakewoods and after a few seasons the front end wasn't responding like it had before. Found one of the Lakewoods had actually bound up internally. Went to the Konis and they are def much better.
One thing to keep in mind, in order to take full advantage of either strut your front suspendion must be very free. If there's any resistance in the the movement of the control arms it will defeat the usefulness of the struts.
