***FUEL CELL QUESTION****
I got a problem. I can either get a new fuel tank, or get a fuel cell for cheaper. i want to go cheaper, but i wouldn't know how to mount the fuel cell. i'm looking around a 15-16 gal cell. it has a sender unit with it (JAZ Products). i want to have room in my trunkspace because i'm heading to college, is there a way to mount under the car? its an 84 'maro. any advice would be greatly appreciated. i also want to keep fabricating of any way to a min. i don't want to have to cut anything out if at all possible.

Re: ***FUEL CELL QUESTION****
no easy way to mount a fuel cell that large in our cars. Just toss a stock tank in it and you'll be set.

Re: ***FUEL CELL QUESTION****
whats the not-so-easy way? i have to get this thing fixed in 3 months, and having to pinch every penny. i figure it be alright cus i believe its about a 1 or 15 gal tank, so i ASSUME a 15 or 16 gal cell would suffice for using lower price. a cell is $150 w/ sender unit. and a tank around my area is around $230. thats $80 difference, but that $80 could go towards something else.....

Re: ***FUEL CELL QUESTION****
you'll spend a lot of cash in fab'ing up brackets to hold the cell, not to mention where do you plan on putting it exactly without hacking up the floorpan? Hit up a junkyard for a tank if you can't afford new. $25 is a lot cheaper than $230

Re: ***FUEL CELL QUESTION****
The cost of a fuel cell might be cheap but the cost to fabricate, adapt and install it won't be, especially since you don't want to cut anything up. As mentioned above, pick one up from the junkyard as a temporary replacement. A used tank is better than one with a hole in it which I'm assuming is wrong with yours.
Providing your tank isn't a completely rusted out tank, you could also get it repaired for less than the cost of a new one. Most rad shops also repair fuel tanks.

Re: ***FUEL CELL QUESTION****
If you are going to use that car to go to school do not use a fuel cell.
For one you have to run a vent line out of the top with a loop in it and exit the car through the floor pan.
Secondly the tops are a pain in the *** some times and will leak fumes. Not to mention you would have to fill the car up by popping the hatch and filling the cell up. If you over fill or spill or drip gas you and your clothes will smell like fuel when you get to school. This means all your clothes your mom just washed will have to be rewashed costing you money.
Third and last the above posts were correct as far as fab cost the cost of the fittings and line to make this work will eat up that $80 bucks you thought you saved.
