T56 issues baack apart - and bell housing dowels suck to remove
Started having issues with the T56 not going into 5th and 6th only, called liberty they blamed disengagement which I know is not the issues..
Sent back and they said I showed a big TIP Load on the input shaft likely from Bell alignment..
The Mcload bell housings are all supposed to be pre checked and do not need verified - and before anyone calls me stupid - You can not check without tearing into trans due to bell being fully open on trans side.. So liberty sends back the faceplate of trans - I find that it was sitting .027 low and Squarness was about .020 off as well also driving input shaft down even farther!
I have fixed squarness and awaiting offset dowls to fix off center, removing the SHP dowels were horrible to remove - one I could access from front of motor and had to hoss on with a 2lb sledge for several minutes - the other was not so easy - drilled several holes through (and even drilling into block - awesome) still unable to budge with huge channel locks - Had to weld a bolt to my slide hammer then into dowel to finally get..
Not sure if it is the SHP block or McLoad bell that caused the issues, I am assuming the bell - It in turn cracks input shaft tube and ruined bearing - not sure what else at this point - 1st through 4th still felt great.. Also while tearing apart found balancer sheared the key - More awesome!

With any performance bell you need to check it for squarness and runout !
I have even found the factory stuff can be off a bit. Best to check them all really!

That sucks man, but yep, fast T56 cars I hear are a pita to deal with.

TT350: true. But like I said mcload says no need and trans needed to be apart to check being bell is wide open w no referance points.
Will not make that mistake again! But even trying to use the flat trans mounting surface to check square. That thing had .010 with just a one one inch move of dial.
While back at liberty upgrading to 30 spline output to keep that out of back of my mind
