V6 Springs for Drag?????

i was talking to a friend of mine with a mustang(yes i know) and he said that one of the hot cheap setups for drag was to put v6 springs in the back and 4cyl springs in the front. has anyone ever tried this on our cars? does anyone think it will work?

thanks
tim

i did it, plus air bags, ce adjustable shocks, and lakewood drag struts. my car was 2.8 to start with so it wasn't much trouble going with the v6 parts.

I have V6 springs on the front of my car and they really made a difference in weight transfer. My rear springs are from a standard 305 TBI firebird(comparable to an RS)

Yes the rear springs have the same rate. There is no difference between the V6 and the V8 rears. The difference in the front is that the V6 is lighter, so the rates are lower. So the rears don't even matter.
