91 GT vs 99 LS1 - revisited

To all of the non-believers who said that my mustang cannot run in the 11's on those mods here is proof. In 5.0 Mustang/SuperFord magazine, on page 23 is the results of the Ford event at MIR. Each car was tech'ed in for the class it was running and my class was Mild Street, it allowed minor bolt-on's, heads cam intake NO power adders. My son qualified second and won the race with 11.80 at 114.60. Every pass but one that day was an 11.80. We did want to run #1 but he broke his transmission first round. It would have been a good race.

Since that day, we made a nitrous pass at Mason Dixon and the car went 10.98; 11.01; 11.02 @123 with 200-shot hitting it in second gear.

Wait till the TTA comes out a beats my Mustang (easily)

Pete

to the mustang, it is being setup to run Street Renegade as soon as we build the 'BIG' motor. Now it has - custom 512/512 Anderson cam, AFR heads (no porting yet), Holley Systemmax 2 with Anderson power pipe, 30 lb injectors, no air, battery moved to back, long tube BBK headers into Bassani X-pipe Flowmaster 2-chamber exhaust. custom chrome moly 10-point cage, drag shocks, Eibach springs, air bags. Motor was bought for $150.00 when the origional exploded. It had 160K on it then now about 180K after a 1 1/2 years of running every weekend. Just traded someone for his C4 auto for our Tremmec 5-speed. No passes on new combo. Nitrous is hooked up made a 10.98 @123 pass with it about 2 months ago.

The TTA has a little head work with a Precision Turbo 206/206 cam/lifters, TA-49 turbo being rebuilt to TA62 specs. ATR stainless exhaust with cats and 40 lb injectors. using an Art Carr 9-inch non-lockup converter. That's about it for the TTA. It should run mid to low 11's after installing a rear later.

He sure does, when your young you have no fear when your older like me you fear that pain in the wallet.

He is very aggressive on the line and leaves on the limiter 5500 rpm. He can pull both wheels off the ground also.

I drove the car and almost put into the wall using the 5-speed. The C4 is in it now and maybe I will able to drive it again.

I think too many people understimate what a cammed, aluminum headed 5.0 can do. My AOD car ran close to 105 with many problems and I did not get to run it again with the off road pipe, headers, aluminum drivshaft, converter or ac delete before I took it apart. I think it would have hit 110 with similar mods to your sons car. That's a good driver (your son).

For the mustang he should get the SVO extender so he can spin it higher if hes bouncing at 5500 with the engine mods he has, unless youve got really tall gears, it would be wise to shift at a higher rpm to take advantage of the engines properties.

All that is being addressed now. An extender is about $500. A new chip can take care of it also. We put a C-4 in recently and got the chip from the person who traded his C4 for out Tremec. My son took it for a ride with the new chip and it pulled all the way to almost 7000 rpm's. We have 410 gears now and looking to go higher soon.

Did you all see the 5.0 magazine yet??
