bad night on the street

This was one of the worst race nights i have had since i purchased my car. I lost 4 out of 5 races...2 i wasn't even close and 2 i just launched poorly. Back to the purpose of this post(was i even close to that in the first place?) I am sick of having a stock tbi 305. In everybody's opinion what is the best mod to start with? what kind of gains can i expect? What will each cost me? I spent enough money getting this 305 in there so please no replies saying anything along the lines of, "drop in a 350" because that really isn't an option right now, i wish it was. Also, awhile back somebody posted an article on building a 325 hp 305...i would appreciate it if somebody could repost or post a link to that.

a 305, what a waste of a good car.
"she'll run a 16sec 1/4 mile but she'll look da.. good while doing it."
