401 twin turbo new track best
Got new mickey thompson et street radial pros. 275/60/15. They are abit taller than my old 295/55/15's but tread width is narrower so they do no hit the fender lips and rub tire. Section width seems similar tho
First hit leaving somewhat light produced a new best of 1.31 60 foot! I was happy! 23 psi boost went 8.87 at 154. Next run i tried leaving harder and put more timing in it blew tires off
After some oil downs i only got one more pass this night. Final run i went back to my first run settings and still spun momentarily but throttled enough to save it

Haulin *** like usual! Grats on the new best man! Out of curiosity those stock 18x9.5 fronts? I'm surprised you don't run a skinny on the car. Like I said before I like the way they match the racestars

Re: 401 twin turbo new track best
Yeah thats getting there. My cousins in a 10.5 radial class around here. hes went 5.20's and a few teens for a lil while and finally got the car to hold it better to the track thinks he can get to 5.0's. like around here hes one of the fastest in his class, but he goes down to Maryland International Raceway alot. He cant keep up with them turbo cars, some are in the 4.50- 4.30 range going like 180 or so. In the 1/8th !!! not really street cars tho, hes running like 14:1 compression with a 442ci sbc. two stage nitrous car.

My biggest issue is inconsistant starts both hot and cold. Its real picky on fueling and never seems to stay consistant. But it will fire and run. Once warm and running its an amazing driver

Your car is my favorite third gen. That is frickin insane how fast you are getting! I love how it squats like mad all the way to the 1/8th! Awesome! Keep posting videos, I can watch them all day! I forget, are you running a trans brake? How much boost on the launch?

I was thinking.. In that one vid you sure hear it spooling up.
You know anything about cummins? Im thinking about buying a 2wd 93 dodge w cummins. Thing is from Arizona so its clean and solid. But tubbing it and heavily modding the engine.
Another project!! Gotta finish the first one... lol

Nlol the red car owner is 87_TA on this board. He had a sweet purple 87 trans am. If his car wouldnt have blown a slick off the rim and wreck, this motor would have ended up in it.
And no i dont know anything on diesels

Car is gonna rest for awhile til likely october or unless we get a cold sept night. Gonna max it out and shoot for bottom 8's at 170 soon as its cold enough but still warm enough to hook.
Now that my blue car is alive and well, i will be playing with that this weekend hopefully

Nice! I just watched the vid again. wow. Thats awesome.
Question,
Does it feel like the car has more? Like how much more mph? Or is she pretty wound up after the 1/4?

Re: 401 twin turbo new track best
On current tune? I think i could find 1-2 more by playing with air fuel and timing in certain spots. If i can apply power faster it would pick up but traction can be limited lol
Its around 200 rpm away from the current limiter so there is room to go higher. I can raise it 100-150 more
But i have 3-4 more psi possible on the setup i can still use if the co2 can command it. That should get me 3-5 mph more i hope. I want to see 170

Naw. I just drive in, add ice to the intercooler tank and go.

Congrat's, really like seeing a 3rd gen putting down the numbers.
