First time on here- My '88 Iroc
This is my '88 Iroc. Originally a L98. I bought it on ebay for $2500 out in Spokane, WA. I live in MN so a flight out to Spokane and a non stop drive through the rockies in January brought her home. Quite a trip to say the least. Anyway, that was two years ago, and I've done a lot since first getting it. It now has new paint, GMPP 350 HO crate engine with a Comp XE268 cam backed by a TCI Streetfighter 700r4. The nine bolt is coming out this spring replaced by a 10 bolt with 3.42's, a Tru Trac posi, and LS1 discs.

I started off in 3rd gen world getting a free '85 Sport Coupe with a LG4. 6 years of sitting, a ceased engine, bad tranny, rust and a nice mouse nest greeted me when I brought it home. My whole drivetrain spent a year in this car. I did all new brakes, iroc suspension, 9 bolt posi swap, poly bushings, autometer gauges, megashifter, and more than I care to admit. When it came time for paint, I realized it was gonna need new everything due to rust. With so many 3rd gens out there in better shape, I opted to just find a new car. I couldn't find a single Iroc in good shape with a bad engine (since I had all my new drivetrain) I ended up buying my perfectly running L98 Iroc.
Within a day, I was ripping it apart. Well that's enough talk for now. If anyone's interested I'll continue the story. Alright here's some pics.

awesome ride, could you tell me what that little blue LED is on your dash? looks great and I could think of some great applications of a little read out like that.

Re: First time on here- My '88 Iroc
The blue LED readout it off of a inline fuse holder for an amp power wire. I pulled the readout out and am using it as a regular voltage gauge in addition to the stock one. I had to put a switch on it to turn it off at night. That thing is bright! As for my original TPI 350, I sold it all as a package with trans, wireharness and ECM on ebay. After selling that I had just what I wanted, a rust free Iroc with no drivetrain for $1000! I just happened to see my old engine on Craigslist last month. I emailed the guy and he said he never did anything with it and was asking $1400 for it. I don't know if he sold it, but he probably did.

awesome car! an autometer gauge setup would be the perfect finishing touch.
i'm in the same boat you were, a rusted sport coupe with about 10k in drivetrain and suspension upgrades. need to find a rust free 87 and swap my stuff.

How do you like your 3.42 gears? I'll be swapping my new rear end when I get my car out this spring. I think going from 2.77's to 3.42's should make a huge difference. How do you like your 3200 stall convertor? Mine's only a 2400.

That car is absolutely awesome!! Love the color. Two things though. 1. the hood still has the factory lip. 2. V-belts?

Well, I got my car out now for the summer. I got my new rear end under it now-a 10 bolt with 28 spline axles, 3.42 gears, tru trac posi and LS1 discs. And I love it! Today I just put my new wheels on. They are Boyd Junk Yard Dogs with BF Goodrich G-Force Sport tires. I've got 17x8 in the front, 4.5" backspacing with 245/45/ZR17s' and 17x10 in the rear, 5.75" backspacing with 275/40/ZR17's. They stick out kinda far in the back, I could have gone in another 1/4 to 1/2 inch, but oh well, stuck with them now...

Yeah, good eye. I was unaware of how the front edge was supposed to be. I may try to carefully trim it off without having to paint much. And yeah, V-belts suck! There's nothing better than starting up a sharp looking car with belt squeal drowning out a nice lopey idle!

Seriously though, that is one of the sweetest camaros I have seen. I love the new wheels. Those two things just kind of stood out to me. Beautiful car man.

That's one sweet ride! Great job!
That's the first Camaro I've ever seen with the big fuel gauge and no tach. Did certain ones come stock like that?

The big gas gauge came out of my gray '85 sport coupe up in one of the first pictures. So yeah, some came with them.

I think the Camaro Club is great. I've only done a few things like dyno day, a cruise (which was really fun) and a couple car shows, which I got in for free for being in the club. I think it was $30 for the year. I got to dyno for $20 and won a California car duster at the cruise, so it's more than paid for! And I've had free lunch twice at dyno day and cruise day. I'd check it out for sure. Northstar camaro club.

very nice IROC! Tasteful and clean.
Nothing like buying a car long distance and driving it home.
I have done it twice--about 1500 miles per trip.
Road trip!!
