Those of you running a torque convereter lock up switch.......

When do you turn on the torque converter lock up swich when racing the quarter mile? I leave mine off until I get to 3rd gear and wait for the RPM's to reach around 4500 to 5000 then lock it up. Is this the best time to do it? I've had consistent 1.91 60 ft's.

you should turn it on at the line. it doesn't lock up in first gear it only lockes up the converter from 2nd gear on up. what it does is instead of some lag in the rpms dropping it will hit harder like a manual car does. if you roll slowly with it on the car will go to 2nd and should bog like its locked in as if it were a stick.
hope this helps
