do i need tubes to run et streets?

I might just get the et slick since they will be track tires only and i don't care about dot approved i don't compete at the track for money or points. I was told by a guy at a&a i don't need tubes if i'am only going 12s? Thanks Matt

You don't need tubes for any slicks but a racing tire will not hold air. My ET drags drop from 14 to 8 PSI in 2 weeks. Tubes will hold air better. I have some MT Sportsman Pro's for my truck with tubes in them. They sat for a year and still have 18 PSI in them.

cool then i don,t need $100 tubes for a few weekends of racing a couple of hours a night. What would you recomend for my car and just strip duty MT et street 26x10.5x15 or hoosier 26x8.5x15 on my 15x7 firebird rims. Car is 5 speed 12.7@111 on DRs. The second number confuses me the hoosier says their 8.5 is 9 inches wide(tread) while the mt street says its jusy over 8 inches wide but is listed as a 10.5?

MT ET street is a DOT tire. The width is measured across the tire section (were the bulge is). The Hoosier is a drag slick. The width is measured across the tread surface.

I would run the 26x10.5 M/T et streets just
because you can drive on the street with them - street race. I have a set of 28x12.5 and they dont wear out that quick, and hook
like a slick. A buddy of mine runs the 26x10.5 on his 5.0 and get a 1.65 60ft.
