That'd be a shot in the arm for my old home town that's for sure but it's a tough one to get over all the hurdles. Good luck.
Having said that, Smith Falls has their 1/2 mile event again this year so you never know.

Re: Your first 11 second pass. (Remember?)
Quote: ET/MPH: 11.69@118 on a soft "first-pass-of-the-combo" type pass
Cubic inch:370 ls motor
Power adder: no
Trans:borrowed powerglide
Gear:4.11
Weight:3350
Tire:Mickey Thompson 275/60/15 radial
Altitude:2424'
Trailer:Yes

this motor ultimately went 10.7x's once tuned and a proper trans/converter was in so this probably isn't a fair comparison.

i built a simple 10:1 355 with an xe274h and some 113 casting heads several years ago. i had problems with it and never got it dialed in, but that combo was pretty quick for what it was. i went 12.16@112mph, nowhere near optimized.
i seen videos of this run on youtube sounds great man! its funny you talk about the 10:1 355 with the 274 and cast heads, last year i was running 12.81s at 110mph with a 268 High Energy and a 2000 stall converter Smog truck heads ported a bit.. i am hoping for 12.50s-12.60s this year went with the 268 Extreme Energy and a 2400.

the xe268 is a much better grind than the he268, you should pick up a good bit under the curve with that. a 3800-4200 stall would jump you right into the 11's though, i bet....so much being left on the table in the first 60' with that tight of a converter.

Re: Your first 11 second pass. (Remember?)
3rd pass off the trailer, brand new combo, 4100lb. '70 nova 454 single carb, no power adder, 4.56 rear gear, turbo 350 with flowmasters went 12.18, 12.01, 11.88, then was time to go home, did some tuning and stuff, felt WAY quicker..... ended up selling it in parts.... then got the 87 formula 350 with 30k miles to run 12.20's on street tires with a 406 tpi, no nitrous or anything....just that damn hypertec chip....(yuk). Wish I had that car back....

Quote: So...
What did it take?
Cubic inch.
Power adder.
Trans.
Gear.
Weight.
Tire.
Altitude.
Trailer.
It's interesting to see what it takes.
I see light weight, bigger cubes and higher stalls as an overall theme so far. This isn't to say people are going fast otherwise, it's an observation from what's been posted.
I started this thread to educate myself a little as my fat Camaro with it's 350 is still more than half a second short of 11.99.

Carbed 350 (Vortec heads, XR276HR, Air Gap, 670 vac sec )
700R4 with 10" TCI converter than I foot brake to 2000 rpm
3750 lbs race weight
3.73 rear gear
26 x 10.5 ET Streets
Probably 500 - 1000' altitude density
12.7 @ 108 with a 1.70 60'
That was last years combination.
Better heads this year, slightly different cam in a new chassis but the weight is still up there.
So far, 1/8 mile is 8.07 @ 85.14 with a 1.8 60'.
Closer...

Re: Your first 11 second pass. (Remember?)
750 double pumper, and lose 250lbs and i bet it goes 12.20's. what does the converter flash to on the hit? this is closer to the actual stall speed. with that much cam, i'd be looking at 4000 minimum. cool thing is, with the 700r4, once up to speed, the converter will lock up and act just like stock.

Re: Your first 11 second pass. (Remember?)
I've moved up to a BG 750 although it's still vacuum (I value my MPG as much as my ET!)
It's a street car to be sure. I lost the GFX and power windows from the IROC but I've added Spohn SFCs to the Sport Coupe. I've even added about 30 lbs of Dynamat to better suit my long distance cruising. A Dana 44 instead of the 9 bolt adds a little heft too. It's still close to 3700 with my 200 lb rear in the seat.
The converter is another thing altogether. I have video from the chassis dyno that clearly shows the tach jumping to 4000 rpm when the pedal is mashed at 3000 rpm. Foot braking only gets me to 2000 rpm or so before it starts to creep. I didn't think my PB of 1.7 flat (60') was too bad but I think there's more. There'll have to be if I want to go faster.

Re: Your first 11 second pass. (Remember?)
well, you look like a pretty small guy on your vid. i can get down to 3300lbs with me in the car, but i'm 300lbs man. normal race weight for me is 3450. you start adding safety equipment, beefy rearend and trans, and the weight is easy to pour on. way back when i was still DDing my car, i got it down to 3090lbs with me in the car, but that was with before the roll bar, 9", and i was only about 240lbs back then.

FWIW, i got better mileage with a mechanical secondary than with a vacuum secondary. my theory is that since you can actually feel the secondaries under your foot (has it's own return spring on the shaft, you can feel the tension get heavier) that you have a better feeling of when you are into the secondaries and when you're not. the vacuum secondaries open on engine demand, so it's easier to get into them if you're getting into traffic or something.

Yeah i am hoping to see a good gain just from the Cam itself 3800-4200 stall would be a little much on the street i think as i Drive it everywhere in the summer.. i think a 3000 stall would be as much as i would want
