never ending quest to run 8s

I feel like ive been chasing this pass for years. i managed to pull off an 8.96 @ 151 mph. car left really soft (only 1.37 60ft) but it ran its *** off on the top end. 434 sbc on a 200 shot turning almost 8K through the stripe. now the motor is coming out and getting set up to run 8.50 index next year. let me know what you think.

I still want an 8 second timeslip with no power adders. The car can do it but I haven't been at the track for a few years now.

Re: never ending quest to run 8s

put a progressive in there and work on trying to keep the front end down. sounded like you have the nitrous on a .3 delay or so?
if you could hit it with ~75% right off the brake and then ramp the rest in, your 60' would drop into the 1.2's. main issue is keeping the frontend down though, as it looks like it comes up a good bit just on motor. (if i am correct about the nitrous delay)

do you have frontend limiters? what shocks up front?

Re: never ending quest to run 8s

i do run a progressive controller. that pass was a 200 shot with 8* pulled. I think it could use a little more timing but the air was really dry. i have it set up to leaveat 65% at .02 sec off the trans brake(enough to safely be off the 2 step). then all it at .35sec. the car has been really low 1.3Xs. I don't think i did a long enough burn out on that run. as far a shocks, the fronts are lakewood 90/10(i want double adjustable but just don't have the money right now) and the rears are double adjustable afcos. no front end limiters. im hoping that over the winter ill get the funds for some good front shocks. the motor is getting freshened up and some upgrades as well. Im happy with the pass because i was just trying to get in the 8s for a while.

Nicely done! Whats details on the motor? What fuel on spray? It likely could take a few more deg on a 200 shot

Re: never ending quest to run 8s

its a 434sbc. brodix 11x heads. around 12.5:compression. it has a pretty big cam it it. i forget the #s. it was never built with the intent of spraying nitrous and its held up very well. the car runs high 9s on motor. runs on alcohol. i run a stand alone fuel system for nitrous. it consists of a 1 gal fuel cell of 116 fuel, a holley blue pump with the matching regulator.
