Help me with tire selection for the strip

I am looking at 2 different Hoosier tires each with pro's and con's. Check my sig but it's a daily driver making 420WHP and I run a stick shift. I am looking for tires for the track only but having the option to drive to the track (5 miles) would be a plus. I thought about posting this in the tire and wheel section but figured more drag users may visit this section.

The Hoosier tech suggested a 26 x 8.5 x 15 stiff side wall slick with C11 compound. This tire;

Frank said this tire will allow a bit of spin off the line to keep rpm up but would recover well. The only down side is having to buy wheels and it is a non-DOT tire.

If I go this route I will need different wheels.

The second choice is a 26 x 9.5 x 16 Quick time pro DOT tire which will fit my "extra" stock wheels. This tire;

The advantage here is I already have the wheels and I wouldn't get a ticket if I did drive on the roads.

BTW I was told in order of side wall stiffness the slick is the softest, QTP is next and the stiff wall slick is the stiffest wall.

In regard to compound, the QTP compound is comparable to the D06. He also said they should last about the same (given the same use) and should have comparable results, with the slick having a slight edge.

Anyone used these tires and could share their opinion?
