Winterizing the race car
The time has come. Racing season is done for the season for my local track. So with that, what does everyone do for winterizing their cars? I plan to take the slicks off, fog the engine, fill the fuel cell, and take the carb off. Also I plan to loosen the rocker arms. One of my racing buddies says just for the winter, he puts in the rv antifreeze and then doesn't drive it. He said he likes to use that because once the season gets here, just drains it out and fills with water. No clean up required. Any thoughts?

Mine sits on jack stands in a headed garage. That's it. Still has distilled water in the cooling system and fuel in the tank. I don't run straight water. I have an anti corrosion additive in it but that's it.

I take my carb off, and fog it with WD40.
Empty the water out of the block and rad.
Put fuel stabilizer in the gas tank.
Bounce sheets in the car to scare away the mice, plus it smells nice.

Re: Winterizing the race car
I am about to winterize mine as well. Drain fuel cell, drain block/radiator, fog the cylinders, up on jackstands. rear slicks come off and are stored in the basement in black plastic sheeting, rockers are all loosened to remove tension from the valve springs
