Camaro and Firebird win at 2024 Pomona ET Finals

Camaro and Firebird win at 2024 Pomona ET Finals

Good showing by the F body boys this fall: a gen 4 Camaro wins the Pro ET final and a gen 3 Firebird takes all the money home for the Sportsman class. These two guys outraced everybody else in their divisions just to qualify to go to Pomona to race the other division champions for the national bragging rights, so this is no small feat to get a Nationals win here. Congrats to both!

Thats a lot of round wins to make it that far. I went to a divisional race once but didn't make it past second round.

So true. If I recall right, back one year in the early 1990's, before the delay boxes hit the scene and made a lot better racers out of ones who normally weren't, I counted up 110 round wins at my home track just to qualify for enough points to go to the Division 3 race at Indy for what we now call Sportsman class, and runner-upped there losing by something like .008 of a second to a guy that yanked a perfect light out of his behind. That would have been my ticket to Pomona to race the other division winners, but I guess it wasn't meant to be.

Not complaining, I had some incredible years back when I was really dedicated to the sport. I had a deadly consistant car I could take anywhere and win with, (an AMC Rebel Machine of all things), and was actually able to make some money bracket racing on the weekends. The car wasn't fast enough or run hard enough to ever hurt itself, this no doubt helped with the money making effort because I didn't have to buy parts. I knew that car's tendencies so well I'd take the outside temperature right before a run, put the dial on the windshield that I knew it would run, turned the key, left it in Drive, and cut a light. Pretty easy! (not)
