Help Need New Car! Iroc Totalled!

Okay so my '85 Iroc got hit by an uninsured motorist. I am gonna get squat out of it when the total it. The interior is good, the tranny is brand new rebuilt... plus all the little perks...

I'm gonna buy the car back, but I need a new car to put all my old good parts in.

Looking for about an '87 w/ TPI with GOOD paint for cheap.
Where do I get the cheap from? the engine can be crappy, and the same goes for the interior, exhaust, etc. Just want good paint and no major suspension screw ups.

If anyone sees one LEMME KNOW!

ESPECIALLY IF ITS THE TEAL ONE!

Thanks
-Paul

Damn, Paul, that really sucks.

I wish you luck in finding a suitable replacement.

Man, that just stinks! If they can't insure themselves, they shouldn't be allowed to drive. I will certainly keep an eye out down here for something. Does it HAVE to be an 87'?

I know where there's one for sale!

Hey Paul, there's black '87 T-top for sale up the road from me, paint appears to be in good condition, though hubby thinks a V-6. Says it's been hit in the cowl, not sure what that means, looks nice from the street.

Don't know price. It's sitting out here in Milwaukie, at Able Radiator off Oak Grove Blvd and River Rd. We know the owners of the place, might be able to get it off their lot for cheaper than they want.

BTW, is your IROC t-tops?

I happen to know where there is an 86 z with tpi and t-tops, perfect everything except the clear coat is f**ked really nice car and all stock. for $2375, black and gold. has like one whole dent that is really shallow, I guess it's an option if you can't find anything else. plus there is a late 80's rs metallic purple with matching louvers, seems to be really nice, but if you are interested or have no other options, and don't mind a drive to get a new car, I can check it out for you no problem. find out about it. just lemme know.

Theres a fully gangsterized Z28 here. White, looks lowered somehow, complete with nasty wire type wheels and chain steering wheel. $1995 on a lot. I can tell it's an 85 or newer from the front end and the rear center stoplight isn't the 86 style so it's either 85 or 87+.

Wow you guys are great! Thanks for the eyes! No my IROC wasn't T-Tops but I wouldn't mind having them. It doesn't HAVE to be an 87... but I'd perfer it to have a tpi setup already so when I put in a new 350 I don't have to drag the old ECM and wires out of my 85.

The insurance man is going out to look at the car today at the Auto Body shop. I'll know how little they are gonna give me for it soon. I'm gonna try and find a scanner and post the pics of what mine looks like. Take the blue one 85ROCZLADYONE linked.. well just the drivers side half looks like that.

I am buying it back for alot of the stuff I've done to it. Lemme know what you want and I might sell it to ya. If it's not something I wanted to keep. :O)

That goes for everyone. I'm gonna end up parting the whole thing out.

hmmm.... I wouldn't mind some iroc swaybars, if that's what it still has, and you don't mind parting with them for a decent price, that and springs? I dunno what you want to keep.

Sign me up!

I need little bits and pieces, mainly like the plastic screws that hold everthing in place along the cargo hold bay and above around the piece that covers the back of the headliner. I have gray ones, I'd ;like to keep them gray if ya got them, if not, black will work too.

I also need the stock ashtray flip cover thing, mine's been messed up, doesn't close, ever since I bought the ROC.

For hubby's ride, he needs power door lock and window buttons.

For Blue502/Hugger, he needs the ring assembly stuff around the map light.

I'm here locally too, PDX!

I'm getting all of 2k out of the deal with my car back. So its time to fund raise and part out the 85. The nose piece is toast, I was hit in the front.

What's your interior like/color? What are you keeping in it? I also need the plastic window sills on both sides and the plastic piece around the stereo if ikt's not cracked or you haven't altered it in any way.

My interior is black. Looks okay, better than most. I'd like to keep it atleast for now. I like the black or atleast gray interior and if the car I find for the right price is the wrong color, I'm gonna swap. It does have power mirrors however, I could never get them to go up or down, only left and right. The window sills have small cracks but you can't see them when the doors are closed. The piece around the stereo has a hole in it where my alarm light is.

Dang....both our IROCZ and Z28 T-top both have the gray interior. Mine's in great shape, no tears; hubby's is the one who needed it, his is ripped in shreds in some spots, like the rest of his car.

What shape is your console lid in? Open and closes ok? I know hubby needs that for his Z. Oh yeah, do you have the power 6-way Ricarro drivers seat , if you do, are you keeping the driver's seat?

I don't know that it is six way power. My astray lid closes and opens but it doesn't snap into place like its supposed to it just stays. If you have one that keeps poping up..... take a pair of channel locks and clamp down on the rivits at the pivit point for the lid. It will tighten it up and give you less troubles.

You'd know if you had them or not...there's 3 silver buttons on the side of the seat, one front/back, one up/down height, and one tilt up/down.

Did you see my post about the '83 Z28 350 in Oregon City? It's a very nice car. I'd buy it if I had the money. Let me know if you're interested, you can PM me for the guy's phone #.

I know where there's an '84 Z28 T-top body, no engine, no tranny sitting. NOt much else is good on it but it's $300 for the whole car.

85roclady1 - I do have the power seat and yeah I'll part with it. Both if you want them matching. It does have, like I said a wear tear on the left side. Fairly small. Also I'll take out the power window button.

laegion - coil springs and sway bars are yours, email me and we shall talk some more.

Kid Camaro - I don't know what was up with my washer motor... it sounds like it works, but it may be plugged up. Washer fluid used to come out but didn't go up very high on the windshield, now nothing comes out.

It's in Colton, OR, sitting on a friends property for 2 years. It's just a body only, nothing else inside it is really salvagable, except small bits, maybe the seat bolsters. The brakes do work on it, and they were used when it was pulled down off the slope with a tractor.

It would be a true project car, that's for sure. He wants to keep it whole, not bits and pieces. If he doesn't get any takers on it, it'll be sent away for scrap soon. We wanted to just get the fenders, but the 85 and 84 have different lines, wouldn't work for what we needed it for.

One small dent on passenger rear quarter but easily repaired, windshield is toast, rear hatch is fine, could'nt figure out how to open it, didn't have the keys. It's red, very oxidized, doesnt have the right wheels on it. Let me know if you're interested, I'll give you his number.

Mark would want the whole set for seats and the whole button and plate pieces where the door handle is, both sides, his are all boogered up. Don't dissassemble them yet, let me find out if he really wants them or he's just talking.

Twilights car on the wheels.
Am looking to swap to a manual and wouldn't mind a complete car for the parts. You said earlier that the 84 didn't have a tranny but it might have a good ratio rear end and petals and such.

We couldn't find the build sheet inside anywhere, so we don't know what the gears, possibly L69 Z28 5.0L w/MM5 tranny option. He also has a 3rd gen front suspension complete minus the coil springs for sale. Don't know price on that last bit but will probably take $150 or OBO. He just needs to get rid of his many zillion projects and concentrate on the most desirable one's he has.

I did not see hardly any, but then I wasn't looking underneath it either. Little spots, nothing bigger than a dime. PM me with your address and I'll figure out the milage. It's south of Portland about 30 miles out. If you're really interested I can give you our friends name and number.
