Help me....Value question..

Hi all.. a nooobee here and I have a few Qs.

a Friend is offering
1985 Firebird T/A
305ci
4 Barrel
140,000 miles
T-Tops
A/C
All original!
Immaculate Condition
2 owners

for $4500.00 I don't know much about the Firebird T/A, so I figured I would come to the folks in the know. I have not seen the car, but my husband has.

He says it is in perfect condition and thinks it might be worth the money, but I have been doing quite a bit of research and it seems like a high amount ... Oh the car is in Western WA.

in Advance

most 305 cars will not get you much past $2k anymore. but I am not the expert in the T/As. I know my Iroc with a 350 in it I couldnt get much more than 4k for it

It would depend on a lot of factors. If is a special edition of some sort, it would probably be worth more. I don't know that I would pay that much for a carbed 305 car. I paid $3500 for my car, 8 years ago, and mine is a 1990.

Thanks for the replies..

I do not believe there is anything special done to the car, I just think that it is in "like new" condition... but I still dont think that warrants the big pricetag.... I thought maybe the 85 was a muscle car or something that that would warrant the price?!

If it was an L69 car that could increase the value some. Look at the RPO sheet in the console and see it it lists LG4 or L69. If it is in excellent condition and pretty much stock those are getting harder to find all of the time. Probably not worth what he's asking, but with a little research it may be worth more than the normal run of the mill thirdgen.

I will have to do some research both in the car and the internet to see what this means.

LG4 and L69 are the engine codes, the L69 was the more powerfull motor put in those cars (and hot, doesn't mean all that hot, the l69 is rated at something like 165hp).
