The project begins

Well finally got the time to start on the 89 rs took all the seats out and ripped up the carpeting in it. working on cleaning the car top to bottom and cleaning the carpeting and seats. im not sure if the carpeting is past the point of cleaning, i think i will have to just find some new carpeting to put in.
Does anyone know where i could buy any carpeting and the pading that goes under it? and how much it will cost?

Re: The prodject begins

1AAuto sells carpet. Also, Jim85Iroc on this board does. It's the same ACC carpet from pretty much anyone. It was under 300 for both the front and rear carpet, iirc.

Post some pics!

Looking very nice! Is that you in the background of the first shot? I didn't see any rust at all... people on the East Coast would die for a body that clean.

I merged your two threads, hopefully you don't mind.

Re: The project begins

Good start. I had my 89 apart like that a while back replacing the front carpet (used, but better than I had). I have the plastic trim and seats out of the back now getting ready to fabricate enclosures in the sail panels for 8" shallow subs - mounting the subs is easy, finding .5 cubic ft air space in each panel is the tough part.

You said you are near Fairgrounds, is that complex on Fairgrounds Road? I think I recognize it.

I know where that is. Maybe when I finish helping out with a current rewire project over in Chico on Sundays.

That's how ya learn Just wait 'til you get to the motor mods, I'll be in that same boat as I've got just a couple of bolt-ons and a little tuning to an otherwise stock motor I'm OK with interior and electrical stuff (stereo and whatnot), but I've had help with some of the mechanical.

Re: The project begins

Spend a bunch of time reading on this forum and it will help you immensely. Don't be afraid to try stuff, doing it yourself is key to learning. Nobody was born with the knowledge of these cars

Also, don't be afraid to ask questions (just search first), but also take good pictures to assist in getting answers. Pictures are worth a thousand words, even more if you don't know what the part is called or what it does!
