Looking to buy a 3rd Gen.

Hey everyone, I'm looking to purchase/restore a 3rd gen Camaro as a tribute to a good friend of mine who had a '86 Z-28 2.8L 5 spd. I'm wondering which year and model of the 3rd gen would give me the best bang for my buck as far as maintenance/performance and availability of parts, etc. I'm leaning towards the V8 standard side of things.
Any thoughts?

Its personal preferance and how much money you want to spend. I mean, do you want to go fast? Have a car that just looks really good? Or a little bit of both?

I would like a bit of both if possible, I would like to keep the purchase cost under $5,000.

There is no such thing as a Z28 w/ a 2.8

For under 5,000 you should be able to get a car that needs very little work. Get a V-8 with that kind of money for sure. The 91/92s will be the lowest maintenance just because they are newer and had 8 years of manufacturing knowledge into them. Best thing to do is look for the car in the best condition, not just based on mileage.
