But if you get a Z/28, you'll have to change your name

Of course if you get one of those 4th gen look alikes instead, you can change your name to:

Why? The MAF used on 3rd Gens is not that good...it was the first try. Don't confuse it with the MAF system used on 4th Gens, its a COMPLETELY different system...but then there is OBD II.

SD is definitely the way to go and it is not that hard to tune. It is the most defined ECM and lots of expertise on it. And when you do get SD tweaked ... hang on.

SD is a mystery to me,MAF is a lot less complicated ,plus i've seen all the calculations the comp has to make to determine airflow on SD with MAF it is simple.

Depends. It is easier to get SD exact due to its precise relationship between RPM/MAP and Volumetric Efficiency. Most guys that convert to SD from MAF find SD actually easier once they get the knack of it. Just takes a little time.

For a basically stock engine or mild mods you are probably better off remaining with MAF. Big cams causes MAF problems and then there is the 255 gm/sec limitation. 383s max out at fairly low RPMs due to the 383s air needs. 350s can start to have problems with air flow if they have a big cam and spinning high rpms.
