Plastic seat belt buckles a "wear and tear part"? (What the Service Writer at Clyde Revord told Pontiac)

wtf.

Question.

What the hell prompted GM to use plastic buckles in the first place? *wonders why they didn't use steel buckles like they did in all other GM cars I've been in in the first place* -_-

Plus, why are the plastic buckles in many mid-late 80s Civics still working like new?

Moan.

Sorry, just a little annoyed, because the problem still exists. :/

It's not solid plastic. The load bearing items are metal. You just see the plastc on the outside.
