My Horror Story

I got um! And I got um put on. After 4 hours last night with Sand Paper and Brake Parts cleaner, I clean up the Black 5-Stars I got out of the Junk-Yard, and they look GOOD! So, this afternoon I took um to Sears and had um put on.... BAD BAD HORRIBLE NO GOOD SEARS, the moron went to jack the car up so he could get the wheels off, no big prob right? WRONG, dumbass put the FARKIN lift RIGHT on the rocker-arm, I couldn't see that side of the car, but when he started lifting it up, all I heard was *CRACKKKKKKKKK RIIIIPPPPPPPP* He just looked around like nothing happened, lowered it, and adjusted it. Needless to say that around this time I became a wee bit worried, well, ok, more like I was wiggin. WHAT'D HE DO TO MY BABY! So I went over to investigate, I'm a pretty big guy and he didn't say anything or object to me looking at my car, even though it says Employee's Only and Hazerdous Area on the wall and floor. So I stroll in and look at the front wheel, which I think looks a bit off. Walk up to it, check it out and it seems fine, just the way the wheels were pointing before it was hoisted onto the lift. But then I see the inside fender well plastic, hmmm...... Whats this? It looks a bit buckled, come to think of it, it looks REALLY buckeled... so I think, "Well, maybe this is somthing that happened before I got here, no biggie, I'll just get all new plastic for all the wheels and make it look new again" but alas, as I look a bit farther up, I notice that the WHOLE *** FORSAKEN fender is bent to the point of buckleing at several points, like, say, the wieght of a car was pressed upun it, this is when I begin to become, LESS than happy... so, I look to see what has happened to do this, I look on the underside of the rocker arm.... HOLY ***, the whole freakin thing has the indent of a GIANT lift foot in it! AND ITS PRESSED UP ABOUT AN INCH OR MORE!!!!!!!! Start wiggin big time right here, but as I start away.... I notice even MORE! MY WHOLE *** D@MNED Rocker Arm/GFX Panel has a BIG *** CRACK IN IT!! Tracing the crack around to the bottom of the car I see that it has effectively turned my at one time ONE Peice rocker arm panel into a un-even 2 Peice Rocker Arm Pannel....... I'm fumin like someone has just hit me 6 times in the face....... I got pissed, bitched at some guy at the counter, who said to me "Talk to my Manager whos out there somewhere, cause I can't do anything" but, at that point, I just wanted to yell at someone, so, he had to endure, his boss and the guy that had somehow scuttled away from my car and the lift which it was on would get the same treatment as soon as I found um. Aparently the guy who had just broke the side of my car had seen me notice the damage and went as far away from me and the car as possible..... probobly a good thing in his case, a wise man.... well, maybe not, cause if the moron had taken another 5 seconds of his time to relize that he didn't have the foot on my frame, he wouldn't have damaged anything. So after FINALLY finding his boss and giving him the low down on how a typical verbal beating feels, he then comes over to investigate, PUSHING on my damn Rocker Arm Pannel like hes gonna make it go back in or somthing and he'll pop up and say "There! Looks good to me!", after tinkering and curseing to himself many a time, he finally gets his Camera and takes pics of the damage and writes up a damage report/insurance report and tells me to get an estimate. So at this point I'm semi-calm. Cause the paint on that rocker arm crazed anyhow and I was gonna have the place that painted it fix it.... but that fender, hell even the rocker arm were in EXCELENT condition Physicaly. So, after all this I cool down a bit cause there gonna repair EVERY damn thing that could have EVEN remotely been broken by him doing that. So later on as I'm walking out of the store with my papers and what not, I see the short mexican with a ****** that had done my wheels and hoisted my car up...... Proceeding to thrash him as I had done his co-workers..... though not quite as bad, since I HAD cooled down, though, this is that guy I should be trying to murder.... bah, oh well, all represent the same company. Well after being yelled at in spanish for yelling at him, I just walked to my car (Cause although he SOUNDED angry, I don't speak a word of Spanish, so, it was all lost upon me, so I didn't worry about it), and left, feeling drained, horrible and pissed off. Now, if someone hurts your child, ESPECIALLY another adult, wouldn't you be inclined to hurt/kill them? Well, thats what I was thinking about on the right home...... geting home only to find out that the MFer didn't fill the front left tire up with air, the a$$. Well, thats my long, stank *** day, gonna go end it with a last look at the way my car looks with its 5-Stars, and a trip to the bed.

I was worried when I read your post this morning saying you were off to sears to get your wheels put on. Man that sucks I hope that you get everything fixed correctly and the insurance company doesn't mess with you.

a mechanic, a competent mechanic, a mechanic who knows a bit about whats with what and can actually diagnose, repair, that is a quality long lived auto repair, would never be found in a sears, or chains like it. that is the real deal. find a good independent shop and use it. usually will find wrenches that can, because, simply enough, if your good, thats where the money is to be made. commission is cutthroat but it weeds out the laggers. sorry man, the story sux, at least ya cornered them what if you didnt discover it till later.

I really feel for you man! I had that happen to me too, but unfortunately it was me who was jacking up the car at the "factory" positions, so I didn't have anyone to yell at. Get 3 estimates, and turn in the highest.

Yeah, that's a real tragic thing to happen. Don't worry, the guy probably got a good razzing from his manager, not to mention the other people working there will never let him live it down. I wouldn't, hehe.

No Spanish, no problem... Woopass is a universal language. He will probably get fired. I'm glad they are going to pay for it. Good luck with this.

I agree some Sears suck.I used to have a old green Marquis, they left it up on the hoist overnight but did not make sure the hoist was locked.Well overnight the hoist came down and I had a hole through my car and tons of other damage.
Most of the people working at these places should not even own cars much less work around someone elses!

Please shut up. I have yet to see something intelligent or helpful in one of your posts. You have some serious issues to deal with.

hey-this place is supposed to be about fixing our cars and kind of helping out the next guy in line that has a problem that needs solving. now i guess its getting clearer to me (for the most part- a FNG at this typing and message board stuff)how come the whatchamacallits in charge have got to delete and lock the threads because we seem to space out on the fact that the reason this board is called third gen-"its the cars, st--id". be cool man. Jeez-no wonder he closed some of my replies, cuz if a fu-k up at sears degenerates to this unconstructive zaniness-i guess i cant blame him now, he's da boss. so i vote chill out ya'll . till later-frank :lala:

SAME thing happened to me... AT SEARS.

1988 Formula, i had centerline champ 500's on it, took it in for a simple replacement of the four tires. Im sitting in the waiting room, pleasant as can be, watching my car start to rise on the lift, then hear this BANG. I look up, my car shifted a bit, and they lower it really fast. Suddenly there were ten people around the side of my car.

They call me out to look at it, and the fender is slightly bowed out. I try to open the driver door, and it hits the fender, and doesnt open. He asks me "did it open all the way before we started?" So i ask him back "smartas<x>s, when you drive it in the shop did you climb in the window or open the door?"

So they give me some insurance papers and crap, i go to the body shop and get an estimate... 1100 dollars damage they did. They paid, but the four days the shop had my car, they wouldnt get me a rental. They said i had to get it, and they would reimburse me, which i couldnt do cuz at the time i was 18 with no credit cards.

I ended up talking to the District Manager of Sears Customer Service, and bitching him out to ni avail.

Ill never take my car there again, lol.

I agree, Sears sucks. They tried selling me new struts, shocks, and front end on my old car (Grand Prix). Funny thing is, all those parts were brand new already

I never thought about the rental thing, but *** damn thats gonna suck, cause uhhhh, I'm still 18 and don't have any CC's. Hmmmm, I got a Fiero in the garage I'm workin on..... but..... I think that it wants to blow up, REALLY BADLY, so I don't think thats an option at the present time. Hmmm, someones gonna pay for it, and it ain't me, CAUSE I CAN'T. So I'm gonna have the estimate written up and tack on the cost of a Rental, cause if I don't have a car for 4 days, I'll get stuck between School and work, spend half the day tryin to walk to school, then the other day tryin ta walk to work.... I'll NEVER make any progress cause they'll both be closed by the time I get there. *** damn Sears!
