Does anybody know if the th700r4 from a '91 v6 will bolt up to a L98? I am trying to do an engine swap, and not needing to buy a new tranny would help quite bit.

I believe that the L98 (350) in 91 had the same RPO for the 700r4 as the 3.1L. Does that mean that they both used the same tranny, or did the factory have 3 different versions with the same RPO? Also, if they are the same tranny, does anyone know how much torque they are desinged to take?

Well I can tell you it won't bolt up. The V-6 had a different bolt pattern ont he bellhousings then the V-8's. i Believe the 6's had a 90 degree offset or some **** like that. I DO have a 700r4 tranny but it'd need a rebuild.

Thanks for the welcome guys. I have a teal '91 3.1L V6 automatic with T-Tops. Being in college, I havn't had enough $$ or time to do any mods in the 4 years I've owned it, except for an Alpine 1.5 DIN cd-player. That, and the wheels the previous owner put on are the only mods. However, now that I am a senior and have a decent job, here is what I plan on doing:
5.7L L98 TPI
t-56 Borg Warner
4th gen or Recaro seats
J&L speakers & subs
16" wheels
145mph gauge cluster
new paint
custom petals
B&M shifter

I have some pics, but I lost the film . . .
I'll steal my parents digital camera and post some pics next time I visit them.

 

Did I forget to mention that my thirdgen is a Camaro?
