I have the same problem. Misery loves company.
I got my console torn apart now putting that T5 in. It's in, just need a starter. Then I''ll tear apart the dash
which I'm sure WILL NOT be fun but is doable.
I have it bypassed right now. No heat really sucks.

The inside of my car looks allmost like new !The car had been garage kept and rarly drivin so not a warp nare ther be a blemish the seat material still sparkels like new with no ware marks.. The previous owner had put protective carpet over the floor on boath sides since new. So ther inlies my fear of me or my worst fear having some grease monkey not respecting the fact that the car is as nice as it is arrghhhh , cause I may not have the time or the place to tackle this daunting task . Any light on this TOPIC would go a long way to ease my woes .thanks all

Woody, I feel your pain... I don't know about the birds, but with my Camaro, it took about 2 hours to change the heater core.. we didn't bother removing the dash, just the panel by the passenger feet, remove the computer, and hope that you have "slender" fingers..
